Friday my new pup to train as my next service dog is supposed to arrive in Portland from Texas. My luck with getting a new pup leaves me thinking I'll believe it when I get him in my truck to bring home!

This is him when I first found him online:

That's a good month old; if I can figure out how to get pictures from my phone onto JUB I'll post one from last week.

Meanwhile I've bought snacks, treats, toys, and more.

Need to make a list for the trip . . . .

Beautiful dog Kulindahr!

I react the same way when things go right.

More pictures please.

This afternoon I got the dog caravan delivery schedule. I have to be at Petco in Portland at 1:30 Friday afternoon. They say he'll be disoriented after almost six hours in transport, and that the car ride from his foster home to the shelter made him carsick. Given how long he was at the shelter, then in a foster home, the "Pick Me Up!" info says he'll need lots of attention and affection for several months to let him know this is his home now.

This is him the day the adoption contract was approved.

Lovely Pooch :)

I think he looks sad in the crate pic.

Five and a half hours on the road! They sent out a little video showing each animal in its crate so all the adopters can see their future fur-family is on the way -- I haven't figured out how to put that here, though.

Eight hours on the road -- they're in New Mexico somewhere now... my brain is too tired to calculate just where... Oh, wait; Google maps has a distance function and I already entered their route! They're about two hours out of Rio Rancho, the first delivery point and a three-hour break (if I'm interpreting the itinerary right).

- = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = - = -

Oops -- forgot to hit "Post reply" last night!

By now they've been on the road about seventeen hours including breaks and my guesstimate is they're somewhere near Cortez, Colorado on the way to Utah.

That's a lot for a dog. He's going to need a lot of peace and quiet when he gets home.

They've had two half-hour play breaks for the dogs, plus some exercise in the morning and evening when they're let out to 'do their business'.

They should be rolling into Salt Lake City any time now.

They're in Idaho! (ho, ho)

And will be crossing into Oregon at 4:30 in the morning for a pet delivery and exercise stop -- one person delivers the animals, the others take the remaining ones for exercise.
It sounds like my Know will be close to alone by the time he reaches Portland tomorrow.
