  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Will Ravi be convicted of most serious charge?

i think they basically think he will be convicted of that because the jury passed a question to the judge about the second count. they didn't need to consider the second count unless he was convicted of the first count. he's headed to the big house imo.....

I read that his real worry is deportation. He still carries an Indian passport and can come under the jurisdiction of an immigration judge if he is found guilty of some of the charges. How a guy that young can screw up his life and another person's, Clementi's, is beyond me.

I'll bite my tongue.

[STRIKE]This story is so tiresome.[/STRIKE]

Sadly, I haven't followed the story recently -- but if they put him in the "big house" all the better -- hopefully where he will be raped repeatedly by hugely hung ax murderers. -- I'm sorry - but it's like he pushed that poor kid off a cliff -- just for fun... possibility of deportation? really? that would be good too - but not if it meant he "went free" in India...

He could claim all the remorse he wants (has he even done that?) and he can volunteer to give speeches on tolerance, etc, etc., - to help other kids understand -- but he's not exactly gonna be the person kids would pay any attention to -- not the ones with half a brain -- and none of it can undo what he did...

I have watched most the live testimony. I thought after the prosecution finished their case, that the bias charges were pretty weak. The problem is that the defense did such a horrible job presenting their case, I now believe there is a chance he could be convicted on the bias charges. The invasion of privacy is pretty much a given. The evidence tampering case is pretty strong. The witness tampering is a little more questionable. I think if they convict on the bias charges it will have a lot to do with Tyler's death as the evidence doesn't really stand on it's own.

Dharun deserves whatever he gets. What an idiot for not taking a plea deal with no jail time. I think the strategy must be the longer they can delay a deportation hearing, the better chance he has of not being deported. If he plead guilty, he would have no right to appeal and therefore no lengthy delays. If they can delay things a few years, then they can make a case to Immigration that it's something an immature 18 year old did and not something he would do in the future.
