So who else is a tennis fan and following the tournament?

Who do you want to see win - and who do you think will?

Hope there is someone who is interested - would be nice to something other than baseball under discussion here...;)
 
I'm following it. Tennis is only the sport I watch for the most part. I want Serena and Roger or Andy to win. So far everyone is still in the tourney.
 
If Murray wins this tournament, he'll have earned it. He's had a long row to hoe, and that row hasn't gotten any shorter. He'll need to beat Tsonga then Federer or Djokovic to win his first Slam. It'd be cool for him to pop his cherry in the UK.

Alas, although I hope he wins, I doubt that he will. I'm thinking Djokovic will take the men's trophy again.

I tend to believe that if Serena beats Azarenka in the semi-finals, she'll win the finals, too.
 
I'm just really don't want Nole to win, I want Andy to win to shut up the papers or Roger to win for the over 30 crowd, to let the kids know we not out to pasture yet. My girl made it to the finals so I'm glad. I think if she holds it together, she gonna beat Aggi down. The women's don't have consistant slam winners, it seems they take turns and its usually a newbie.
 
Serena is in there! Her serve was awesome today. The rest of her game is rather mundane right now, though. If she can't hold her serve together for one more match, I think she'll be bounced on her amply impressive ass.
 
Unfortunately, given that Radwanska has a chest infection, it looks very likely that Serena will prevail. Once upon a time I used to respect her will to win and her determination. That all unravelled when she abused and threatened a poor unfortunate linesperson - now I just think of her as a spoilt (albeit talented) person who is an unbelieveably poor sport from the "win at all costs" stable.

I dislike her intensely, for the same sort of reasons that I dislike Schumacher in F1. He is of the same breed - and has proven he will put others lives at risk to achieve his aims. I have no respect for Serena and hope she loses - tho I doubt she will, given the circumstances.

The absolute opposite to her is Jo Wilfried Tsonga - a man who loves his sport, has extraordinary talent - but who knows how to be gracious in defeat. You only have to look at the the end of his match with Murray to appreciate the fact that he is a complete sportsman and an absolute gentleman - and I am sure that, within the next year or so, he will have his day.

As for the mens - I must admit that I would rather like to see Murray break through. A bit of a tough call tho' - Federer is such a champion and also the epitome of a sportsman that I couldn't begrudge him the win - and I certainly wouldn't have been in the least unhappy if Tsonga had made it through to the final and won. I will admit to being happy to see Roger overcome Djokovic - who unfortunately he gives me the feeling that he thinks "I am #1 therefore I am better than everyone and will strut and posture and act like the king of tennis" - and 'true' champions (like Federer) just don't do that.

Whatever happens it will be interesting and I, in my timezone, am up for a couple of fairly sleepless nights!
 
Serena has definitely shown us some ugly behavior, but the woman is a great, pioneering player. She deserves each title she's won, and frankly, she should have more; I can't help believing that she has wasted some opportunities.

I hope she finishes the job today against Radwanska.

I must admit, though, that I empathize with Radwanska, who's too sick to compete at her best. Assuming that she'll lose, I don't think she'd have won today even if she'd been well, but the match might well have been more competitive.
 
And of course, soon after I post that message...
 
Actually, that was an entertaining match (Gilles Simon might call it "interesting.").

I respect Radwanska more after the gumption she showed during the second set.
 
Well it's all over and the Swiss master has now cemented himself as the 'best ever' and #1 in the world again at age 30.

I felt sorry for Andy Murray - tho' hopeful as he hung in and managed to take the first set - then, until the last game, really had the better of the play in the 2nd. Unfortunately, once he lost that it almost seemed as if Roger winning was inevitable. He hadn't really played at his best (well, neither of them had done so consistently) but you could almost sense the momentum shift once he took the 2nd set.

I still think that Lendl can get Andy over the line for Grand Slam wins tho' - he has had a positive influence on him so far - to me Andy needs more to work on his temperament and self belief than anything else now.
 
I don't feel sorry for Andy Murray he just isn't good enough to win a grand slam against the top three. Murray doesn't have a big weapon or a huge shot to really challenge to the top three. I was happy to see Nadal lose he has a bad attitude especially when he is losing. When Nadal attempted to intimidate Rosol by bumping into him that was uncalled for.
 
^ I tend to disagree. On his day Murray can beat anyone - he needs the self belief and better game strategies against his opponents - and to improve his temperament. Very much the way Djokovic did to become #1. I think Lendl has a good chance of bringing the same about in Murray - I see improvements already since he has been with him.
 
Agree - Nadal is a sore loser and has a bad attitude if things don't go his way. Total ass.
