Windows 10 Doomsday - October 14

So, October 14 is doomsday for Windows 10. Microsnot will no longer provide any support updates unless you pay for them. It's either upgrade to Windows 11 on a computer that meets their specifications, or you are SOL. Windows 10 will work unsupported, but you won't get updates or additional anti-malware support.

I hated Windows 10 when it came out, and switched to Linux, 10 years ago. But I do have a Windows 10 Virtualbox VM for two must-have Windows programs which have no acceptable Linux counterpart. I tried upgrading the VM and OMG, Windows 11 sucks bad. It is totally uncustomizable. Even minor things like the size and position of the task bar can't be changed, and it's all ugly as shit. I deleted the whole damn thing and restored the Windows 10 VM from the backup. My computer meets all the hardware requirements, but I'll probably just stay with 10 and accept the risk because 11 is so awful.

Have you guys moved to Windows 11? Have you dumped MS and switched to Linux? Are you going to stay with 10? What OS do you use?

I still use Win 7 & 8.
Win 10 is a vile spyware-infested piece of malware. .lol.
Connections to any Micro$haft owned domains are a banned thing on my network.

I've used Linux for years. It is the only current OS I have in service now. Other systems are archaic for legacy purposes/entertainment.. So end of Windows 10 support makes no difference to me.

I never liked using Windows--either from the view of the experience of using it, or the practical issue of all the problems it had. I was very concerned at one time about how much market share Microsoft had--I don't think it's a good thing when one company controls a crucial technology. And, today, I'm concerned with privacy issues of commercial systems (although not limited to Windows in this regard).

Plus, with Linux, I like the fact that I'm in charge of my computer, not a billion dollar corporation. I like the fact that it can allow me to keep old hardware running longer.

I have a new laptop on order. Other friends have warned me that Windows 11 is a mess-fest and I should prepare for a lot of cleanup before it becomes usable. I have been warned!!!

Yeah, I agree. What Linux distro do you use? I'm using Mint for my main OS. I only have a Windows Virtualbox VM for Quicken and TurboTax. I use Quicken every day. If it were not for those two programs, I could dump Windows entirely. But there is no equivalent Linux application.

I currently use antiX. I was hoping antiX meant it would filter out all those photos of naked people I keep seeing, but no luck.

(Actually, the real reason is that it works well on old and limited hardware, like this computer.)

I'm using Mint for my main OS.

Installed on a new laptop, it won't be a mess.

It has been seamless on the last two HP Envy laptops I have used.
