When moving some files around somehow I grabbed a folder I did not mean to - and dragged it into my download folder.

The Folder is labeled "Drivers" and the sub folders are "Network" and "Storage". By the date modified neither has been changed since I bought the computer 3 years ago.

My problem is - where the hell should this folder be? There is no undo in File Explorer so I could not just undo it - and although the computer seems to be working fine I worry that if I restart it Windows will not be able to find the drivers!

I googled the issue and it says there would be a drivers folder in system32 - but there already is one there!

Does anyone know where this folder should be so I can put it where it belongs before I shut down?

Thanks!

I can't say for sure with win-10, but with other versions, there's a drivers folder under 'system32', and 'syswow64' (may also be 'drivers' folders with various other locations depending on what hardware/software/etc you have)
I believe Win-XP and up, if setup correctly to do so will auto-restore certain important files/folders if it sees them deleted (or moved) from their needed location.
Start by comparing the files within the 'drivers' you moved to whats in the system32\drivers

Also you can try google'ing a few of the actual filenames in the folder you moved.

I had tried googleing the folder names - but had not tried the actual files contained in them.

The files (XM8MN and KJTXR) both end up being Dell / Intel "Update Package for Microsoft® Windows®" - so I am thinking there is a chance they were automatically installed and these may just be the left over downloads...
