It's said the interface is much "lightweight" compared to vista and the millstone introduces some new features in the control panel as well as integrating the "ribbon" interface to programs like "Paint" and "Wordpad"

Pix and video I found here: http://www.thevista.ru/page.php?id=10254

"Security center" gives way to "Solutions Center"

It all still looks the like the same ol' Microsoft, with or without a few name changes. It'll be interesting to see how 7 will function. The new designed calculator is nice.

IMO it looks rather promising, esp. if all the programs will implement the ribbon interface :D

It's also said that milestone 3 is really fast because MS focused a lot on performance.

So when is it due? Hopefully by then Vista will be debugged enough and not so extortionately priced.

i agree. it looks promising. ..| however, i don't like the ribbon interface and i hope to hell you can turn that off.#-o

Why they don´t just try and fix all the bugs in the existing Vista? I think it would save them lots of money and inspire more confidence in their product.

errr what exactly does look promising?
the new calculator? lmao ..

sorry but pretty pictures don't do it for me.

at least when it's about an OS ;)

LOL corny, I'm talking about the positive reviews on the progress so far. People who tested win 7 milestone 3 say it really is performing great. Of course that is not a lot of people but still...

Dont get your hopes high up. This won't be the final look. They usually keep the previous' OS's look while they work under the hood.

The User Interface is usually the last thing they do. But I doubt it will look much different from Vista. Windows 7 is nothing but Vista SP2 IMO.

You are aware that XP is Windows 2000 with a cosmetics change and like SP3, right? ;)

I'm interested in knowing if anyone got to install an application that wasn't given to them by Microsoft on it. That's where the real test is. ..|

lol, pretty much, but now XP has become it's own little entity.

Microsoft is just giving a tech placebo pill to customers to shut them up. Thats why MS can say Windows 7 can be out so soon.
