Windows 7 tomorrow

It looks pretty, but I really don't see myself upgrading anytime soon. I wouldn't even be running Vista, but it came with the laptop I just bought, and I haven't been motivated enough to change it....yet
if your actually willing to learn how Vista works, then you will love it. if all you want is it to work JUST like XP, then your shit out of luck.

well i found the user experience rating system in Win7 and got the computer rated, and like i knew it would. turned aero now. Now this thing looks absolutely beautiful

I am more that capable of learning how Vista works, my main problem with it is it is bloated. I prefer XP because it does what I want and does it fast. It is not as buggy as Vista has been.

See, I am not a Microsoft fan at all. I switched my desktop PC to Linux over a month ago and loved it. I only use Vista on the laptop in the rare occasion a site does not come up, or there is some specific task I need to do that can only be done in Windows.

vista isnt that buggy anymore. still bloated. has always been more stable than XP, and pending the amount of ram you have, pretty fast.

but I am in windows 7, and wow, this is even faster. no bugs to speak of. i am loviiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing this.

I'm glad you liked it.. Right now, its just not for me. Especially because its beta software. Once the full release comes out, I will look at it again.

^ how to remove the "for testing purposes....." in the bottom right corner?

You cant remove it, it is only a beta. I wouldnt erase Vista off, this beta only lasts until August 1. And thats because the full release is July I believe.

Do you have all of your other software/programs installed, too?

Any operating system seems zippy when it’s first installed. When they tend to start slowing down is after we load in all of our other stuff.

Have you added the contacts, movie maker, or any of the other parts of Vista that this version of Windows 7 has left out?
I'm not going to install them because I will never use them.

I have only really installed three or four programs so far. I realized the power of cloud computing yesterday when I realized I could access all my files from Vista by installing dropbox and live mesh.

funnily enough, dropbox installs, live mesh (MS) doesnt. but it has a online function, no biggie.

One thing MS stole from Linux is the sticky notes app.

they gave paint and wordpad the ribbon interface. and the calculator has different modes to go into now, making it a lot more powerful

My background, I love the stickies app. Its what I wanted to carry over most from Ubuntu, never found a third party app like it. Luckily MS, did it right. The background image changes randomly, fitting the theme you chose.

the things I circled signify open applications. the two windows above the firefox icon act as a minimized window. from that little preview, you can peek in at what is open if you hover over, and also close applications from right there. sooooo convenient.

that is aero peek. you hover over the spot i circled in the corner, and you can see what is on your desktop. because of the stickies app, i might do this more often than not. it turns all open windows into glass temp. also, that button in the corner also force minimizes all windows so you get to your desktop faster. no need to close every single window open if you dont want to. also, when you hover over a open app in the preview thing i showed above, it also minimizes all other windows temporarily so you can see only the app you want to peek at.

the themes panel, not much to talk about. here I don't think. I prob should have showed you the libraries more.

It runs very nicely in a VM. I'm going to install it "for real" on another computer in a little bit so I can get all the bells and whistles :-)

Love it myself! Had it a couple of days now and got Key today. Only problem is sound drivers but think im sorting that out as I type!

Glad its good cos I accidentally removed my old system and dont have any back ups!
it will stop working August 1st. So when that date comes around, be prepared to buy it.

I hope they have a discount for beta testers.

Yep, I plan on getting a new laptop around that time so will have to last till then! But so far, now I sorted sound out im in love!

Dont think it has a calendar in this build though, which id kinda like! But im sure theres an app out there soewhere!
it has a calender.

if you right click and go to gadgets, you can get one. and there should just be one built in in the taskbar.

do you have build 7000?

Nope, my key is is different.

BTW. The link to download the Beta from Microsoft is ACTIVE again!!!!! YAY!!!! I'm getting my copy now................

I do, when I read the one on Pirate Bay was the one they were releasing today I got it. And sure enough the key I got worked with it!

It does, but I liked having Birthdays and events on my calendar!

But I am using them sticky notes since I saw them in your pics! Very useful!
oooo that calendar. there is a download pack at microsoft.com that comes with windows calendar, movie maker etc.

Oh, I will go look for that now. You know whats not in this build thats going to be in the final release?
the calendar in stuff will prob be in the final release. i think they wanted to keep the beta light though.

i have no idea what will be in the final release. this might not be the final look of the user interface. the taskbar most likely has the final look, but you never know. this is only beta 1

woo hoo im downloading it now...although im not tech savy , so when it comes to the burning of the ISO file, I guess it's going to be a leaning expericence for me

Well, I'm running it now. The new taskbar is really cool. I love the fact that you can close running programs from the taskbar with a single click. It's reallly beautiful as well. Vista is beautiful but this takes it further........ NICE!!
