I've just downloaded and installed Windows Live Messenger and I can't figure out how to get my webcam to work with it.

There doesn't seem to be a webcam icon anywhere on it.

I've tried googling for an answer and people say stuff like this:

1. Make sure the webcam and microphone are turned on, if this is necessary. Then double-click the MSN Messenger icon and log on.

2. Click Tools, and then click Audio/Video Tuning Wizard. Click Next to start the wizard. (The tuning wizard opens automatically on first run.)

3. On the first wizard page, under Camera, click the camera you want to use from the list. Click Next.

4. Position the camera so that you can see yourself or the subject in the window.

My problem starts at point#2, I can't find a 'Tools' option anywhere on Messenger.

Apparently it should look like this;

but my Messnger doesn't have the bit at the top that says, 'Files Contacts Action Tools Help'

:confused:

With all the new Microsoft stuff, (Live Messenger, IE7, etc) just press "alt" to access menus like normal.

'just press "alt" ...like normal' ? :confused:

Young man, I assure you that just pressing "alt" has never been considered 'normal' to me. [-X

I do have some standards, after all, which mainly involve doing everything possible with the mouse, and avoiding all those somewhat distasteful vulgar keyboard shortcuts whenever possible. :help:

Eh.. or you could simply tell your programs to always show the menus. Click on the link they showed you above and click on the bottom option "Show the menu bar"
