My computer runs on Windows ME, so the latest version of WMP I have is 9. I'm trying to watch the streaming videos of the week on Active Duty and I can't, and I don't totally understand what the frequently asked questions section is telling me do. My question I guess is; is it not possible at all for me to watch these clips with my current OS?

Your current OS is possibly the worst OS Microsoft ever produced (or anyone ever produced for that matter) though there are some who will disagree and posit Vista as being the new ME - anyhow - what are the specs of your PC (make & model if available or else/as well as memory/cpu/hard drive free space etc.) and we might have some ideas.

There is no possibility about it...Windows ME is crap and Microsoft knew it when the released it as a fill in between Win98 and WinXp...get rid of WinME immediately.

I highly recommend getting yourself a "copy" of Win2K from one of the online sources. Cough. Cough. It should work for you.

Why does it always seem that there is no way to get the job done when it comes to Windows and DRM that is both legal and practical?

Tried Direct x but it didn't do anything. I have a Dell L600cx with 11GB of free space.

if the below specs for your computer are correct, then it's a pretty old system. you can run windows XP, but if you only have the base memory (aka RAM) below of 64 MB, then you would need to upgrade definitely to the max 512. you can get that type of memory (you'd need two 256 MB chips) for about 25 bucks each. do you know exactly how much memory you have now? you can right click on your "my computer" icon and select properties. then it should tell you near the bottom of the pop up window you get.

Bus Architecture: PCI/ISA/AGP
Hard Drive Bus: Ultra ATA/33
Native OS: Windows 98/NT
CPU Type: 600MHz Intel Celeron
Standard Memory: 64 MB (removable)
Maximum Memory: 512 MB
Memory Expansion: 2 sockets
Memory Comments: PC100 SDRAM DIMMs

here are the exact specifications on the memory chips you would need: 256MB 168pin SDRAM DIMM 32Mx64 non ECC gold leads unbuffered 3.3 volts PC100 spec 100 Mhz with SPD CAS 2 latency 16 chip count max 1.25 inches tall uses 16x8 dram
