And so the hate wins.

Led by Republicans.

This is what you get when you decide not to vote because you want to "send the Dems a message".

Sure the Dems are spineless and do not find hard enough for gays. But the other side will do everything they can to strip all the rights possible.

We're in for some reversals of progress in rights over the next few years, as Republicans assert their mandate to bring back the bad old days of greater hatred and bigotry.

I often wonder from what source the Republican hatred stems. They hate Blacks, Latinos, women, gays, the poor, immigrants, Muslims, and scientists.

One wonders where they find energy and room for so much hatred of their fellow men.

Why do I not expect our right wing Jubbers to have much to say on this situation?

Were is all that talk about how the Republicans would stick to fiscal issues and not bother with social issues now?

To whom it may concern;

Get back in the closet you fucking perverted faggots! You're not even real people. If you think for one minute you're gonna get these "special rights" you're crying about you got another thing coming.

Love,

The Republican Party

P.S. vote for us and don't ask questions

There's nothing as weird as a gay Republican.

What is really sad is that Wisconsin was the first gay rights state. In hindsight I can see the major mistakes that equal rights groups make. When it became illegal to discriminate in Wisconsin on the basis of sexual orientation, except in certain cases (ROTC, Boy Scouts, Church, etc.) Wisconsin activists and their supporters thought they had won forever. There is a HUGE problem in making exceptions. It's a set up, because the battle needs to be won all over again by each succeeding generation.

For example, while no Church should or could be forced who they admit as MEMBERS they should NEVER have been allowed to discriminate as to who they HIRE. Office manager, accountant, gardener, etc. has nothing to do with their belief system. If we leave that door cracked open it allows for the belief to be perpetuated that there is something wrong with being gay.

Separation of Church and State is a myth in the US. What we have is no State Church. But every religion is government subsidized. That is wrong.

So it's been 6 days since the election and the GOP (God's Own Party) again goes back to their Religious Agendas.

Wisconsin of all places is not supposed considered far right territory.Republicans talk about their support of individual liberties....well,enough then with the theocratic agenda.I am one of the more conservative posters here relatively speaking(Blue Dog Democrat, not changing though representation wise an endangered species after Tuesday)To see the purification of the Republican Party, and to an extent, the Democratic Party really pains me,and this move towards nearly codifying bigotry into the Republican Party will do them far more damage in the long run.To not only oppose marriage rights for gays and lesbians but even the less comprehensive domestic parnership status is inexcusable....pandering to ignorance and hate is beneath contempt and I condemn those Wisconsin Republicans who push forward on this.

This is the admendment that passed in 2006. BTW, the constitution already spells out that marriage is between a man and a woman.

"Only a marriage between one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in this state. A legal status identical or substantially similar to that of marriage for unmarried individuals shall not be valid or recognized in this state."

Please understand why I'm not a flag waver.

Or all the youth, blacks, and Hispanics who stayed home in droves, and no one really knows why.

Seriously incredible ignorance here...

If someone's job is inside a church building, their belief system matters. Doing yard work at a church, I've been asked counseling type questions along with doctrinal, and the same is true of every church secretary and office manager I've known, along with janitors and librarians.

And no religion is government subsidized -- that claim comes from so deep in clueless land it casts doubt on any knowledge you claim.

Gay rights orgs and straight allies are girding for a Republican attempt at repealing the state's DP law which holds at best a precarious position under an anti-gay Constitutional amendment which bars marriage and "similar forms."

The incoming Republican governor and lt. governor have been outspoken against gay partnership rights, the former vetoing a DP bill as county executive and the latter recently became the center of a controversy while comparing gay unions to relationships with animals and inanimate objects.

LMAO! Any fags who voted for Republicans need to be shot (up with Lithium).

I'm back for 2 days kiddies.

One does not expect the Tea Bagging GOP to be a friend of gay community. Those who voted for change will get change.

The whole tax-exempt status bothers the crap out of me. I've seen churches buy tons of private houses/land under its name to skip out on the taxes. It would belong to the church, but it's used as a private residence.

we'll see when it actually happens. for now, it's just people making assumptions.
I only mean that they actually are talking about it, and they're the ones who say it's not the time to debate healthcare or whether DADT should be repealed.

That doesn't work in all states; in many places, if it's not used to "further religious purposes", it gets hit with property tax. One court case over that issue noted something to the effect that the line of separation between church and state wasn't meant to allow competitive advantage in the secular world.

Good reasoning.

If there is no separation between church and state then it follows that churches ought to be taxed

Or the flip side: subsidized.
Call it "faith-based government".

thank god Obama worked to have the Defense of Marriage Act repealed so Wisconsin gays can simply get married in a state where it is legal and have it be recognized by their home state.

And here's another thread about Republicans that took an Obama bashing detour.

President Obama is not a Wisconsin Republican. Joseph McCarthy was. Another fucked up Republican from Wisconsin.

Ed Gein.

Jeffrey Dahmer.

What's in the water in Wisconsin?

I'm supposedly showing ignorance when you have church members asking a gardener doctrine questions and you presume to answer them rather than refer them to the pastor?

No Church subsidies?? OMFG! Hello. They don't pay taxes.
