I supported the conservatives because of the individual mandate in Obamacare. And like the Pelosi unit, I have no regrets.

Next time the Dems have a majority (if there is a next time) and you want them to keep it, maybe you should remember that most people in this country are not batshit crazy and will see forcing people to buy things as kind of a creepy thing to do.

Being a Democrat doesn't mean you have to stay in formation with them when they go crazy.

Lets see if you realize the difference here..

Obama: PASSED health care reform, cut the deficit in the process, and is ending the wars.

Can you explain to me how wasting 2 trillion on wars is not "buying things" which will lead to greater deficits and higher taxes, but passing health care reform which will save the country money is worse?

You can't take one topic and make it a microcosm for everything contained in the book.

I could say "the mere fact that we've eliminated slavery is proof that we've surpassed the Bible's standards", and I'm sure you'd disagree with that.

Of course I disagree -- the Bible was the motivation for eliminating slavery -- beginning as far back as the second century.

Actually that pertains to you. You're right that if you take one part you must take the others, even Jesus's admonition for slaves to be obedient to their masters.

The only things Jesus had to say about slavery were to be voluntary slaves, if you want to be great.

But even if He had, that can't be pulled out and treated as something that stands on its own -- it has to be subjected to the commandment to love.

Simple fact is that mankind's current laws that man developed are what I would consider superior to "God's" laws on slavery in the Bible.

What I'm saying is there are clearly things we have improved on since the time the book was written. There are certainly some teachings in it that are better than what a lot of people do today.

My point still stands. If you don't want people to invalidate the whole thing based on one deficiency then you can't say "we haven't caught up to it yet" by pointing out one deficiency in modern society.

So stark is the contrast between campaigning and governing in this country. Already Republicans are reneging on their campaign focus, and it's not even a month after the elections.

Too bad they couldn't add Wisconsin to the list of Vermont-style carry laws, pass the strongest version of the Castle Doctrine yet seen.... then sort of just evaporate.

Nevada is a carry-law state, too, although not one Nevadan in 100 seems to be aware of it.

I wasn't aware they'd dropped the license requirement for concealed carry. When did that happen?
