Wisdom teeth extraction: how long does it take to recover?

OK, I just got them pulled out. Two of them, it was really easy cos they were not impacted. The only scary thing is that the doctor and his assistant were newbies, cos the other one was on sick leave for the whole month! But they did a great job (AND the dentist was hot).

Won't make it to the weekend for a big party with lots of booze and dancing, but I'll be able to do something quiet, so it won't be big deal (I can leave the other party for next weekend!)

I'm still under the effects of anesthetic, so I'm fine, I hope it continues like this

Presumably he prescribed something for you in case of pain. I would start taking it now, before the anesthetic wears off (but not exceeding his instructions). Once you start feeling pain it becomes more difficult to suppress.

Thanks for the update fed1983........
I hope the horror story exceptions didn't make you worry too much..... :(

thanks! I did already anyway, I'm too pussy so I don't wanna feel any pain at all

by the way, the anesthetic is taking longer to wear off, doc said it should be about 3 hours, it's been 5 hours and it's still there. It's a good thing actually, but I wanna start eating!!! LOL

Make sure you use icepacks for the first day, prevent any swelling, dull any pain. Make sure you only eat what he said, I know I had to build back up to the solids over a few days to avoid having stitches break.

Take some Advil before you even go to the surgeon.

Just for future reference, it is probably inadvisable to take a blood thinner before having surgery.

Happy Birthday!

That should be stated a bit more strongly. I would stay away from aspirin and any other blood thinner for at least 10 days before I had any scheduled surgery.
