Wish Me Luck

If you're any good, then I wish you luck. If, you know, you suck, then it's probably best they reject you.

I'm just sayin...

anyway,
:goodluck

you know i'll be sending out some positive vibes.(*8*)

Best of luck oddkun!!! (*8*)

I have a friend who spent WEEKS remixing Madonna songs -- and then he posted them to YOUTUBE!!!

Even though they were good -they DIDN'T LAST a DAY before they were taken down!!!

So -- asking for permission AHEAD of time was a GOOD IDEA!!! ..|

:):):)

If you're doing this remix just for fun and not calling it your songs in any way then you're fine and don't have to ask just give them credits.
There's also a loophole with copyrighting you have to use 30 seconds or less of a song to call the finished track yours.

You'd be suprised how many bands don't own the recording rights to their own music...if you're still serious try contacting the production company or label they recorded on....asking the band usually doesn't get results.....good luck.

Thanks you two :) I appreciate it!

Would anyone be interested in actually listening to some of my songs? I can post links in this thread when I get some new things finished...

i'll listen. But only under the condition that you take no offense at me giving my honest opinion. It annoys me when people bullshit and blow smoke up one another's asses instead of saying what they actually think.

That being said, I see myself as a fair and just critic. Never an asshole just to be an asshole.

looved it, i'm gonna put this as my ringtone....on my new iPhone 4

Honest first impression: NOT BAD AT ALL...but still missing one layer of depth...another "once-over" to see what happens...

just my opinion...

with love,
sp

Here are a few more songs for free download if any of you are interested. I always love comments so let me know what you think(good or bad)!

Nice work, Oddkun. I wasn't expecting trance and was pleasantly surprised. Very chill and the tracks contained the depth and substance I felt was absent from the earlier one you listed. Thumbs up. Sounds professional.

If I had to offer a critique, what would I say to keep you striving toward improvement (a required trait for any true artist, imo)?

I'd say, what's your specific signature? What separates your work from all other trance artists? How would I recognize, from an audio perspective, that this song has the be the work of that muthafreakin musical genius Oddkun?

, though i do have to ask, why do you call it trance?

!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trance_music

"Trance is a genre of electronic dance music that developed in the 1990s;[1]:251 generally characterized by a tempo of between 120 and 145 bpm, repeating melodic synthesizer phrases, and a musical form that builds up and breaks down throughout a track. It is a combination of many forms of music such as techno, house, industrial, new age, pop, chill-out, ambient, electronic art music, classical music, and film music. It is more melodic than techno, and the harder styles usually have harder beats than house. The origin of the term is uncertain, with some suggesting that the term is derived from the Klaus Schulze album Trancefer (1981) or the early trance act Dance 2 Trance. Others, though, argue the name may refer to an induced emotional feeling, high, euphoria, chills, or uplifting rush listeners claim to experience. Yet others trace the name to the actual trance-like states that the earliest forms of the music attempted to generate in the 1990s before the genre's focus changed.[1]:252 Moreover, the trance-oriented artists are usually rated the most popular DJs in the world. Indeed, in 12 of the last 13 years, trance DJs always ranked #1 in the world in the DJ Mag ranking: Paul Oakenfold (1998–1999), Sasha (2000), Tiësto (2002–2004), Paul van Dyk (2005–2006), and Armin van Buuren (2007–2010)."

Note the bold print: You're in great company.

Definitely strikes me as Trance. Was great ambient music, you know, 'pot-smoking' music. The hip-hop beats weren't in the driver's seat. Didn't get urge to leap up from my desk and dance (trust me, had the drum and bass beats been hard enough, the urge would've possessed me).

But it was something I enjoyed listening to as I skipped around the web, nodding my head--i.e. Trance.
That's my take on it anyway.

EDIT: Please don't take that in a negative way (part about me not getting up and dancing). It's, in no way, an insult. You're very talented in the style you presented.
