Spent the day before turning thirty-five with Josh in Huntington Beach, we were saving a free stay at one of the hotels there that we won at a silent auction in Laguna Beach. It was nice, low-key and sexy until the Dairy Queen we had made me shit like a broken fire hydrant. Josh made me cake when we got home and it tasted as good as him, although my stomach was still not having it.
Unfortunately a few days later, on the 13th I totaled the entire front part of my car. The event was fast and bizarre, my car was hit so hard it looked like it shattered as if it were made of glass and then everything went into slow motion. Mute.
when I was able to regain some of my senses I couldn't feel my legs. Tried breathing. Couldn't feel my legs. Finally was able to breathe in all the way and as I focused I saw blue and black parts all over the street, nothing was floating in the air anymore and that's when I was able to process what was going on - my legs began to feel like jello and I was able to drive my car to a Kitchen & Floor facility's parking right in front of me. The sound of a large part of it scraping on the floor as I drove helped me control the shock I was still going through.
As reality began to settle in I wanted (needed) to get out, but the impact to my car was so hard the Driver's side door was smashed in. I was shaking uncontrollably and almost began to panic again, but I held the steering wheel tightly with both my hands while breathing and wondering why the person who hit me was nowhere to be found. Regaining focus, my shaky fingers opened the glove compartment and I took out all the credentials I needed. I sat there feeling stuck, not being able to get out of my vehicle when the other person showed up he stood next to my window and I told him I was still in shock.
I crawled out to the passenger's side and opened the door and was able to get out. The voice of Dr. Ramani Durvasula still lingering in my ears as that was the last thing I was listening to before the collision.
We exchanged information, he was on his way to work so was in a hurry while I was trying to make a U-turn when our vehicles met. He never texted me his insurance information and later I found out that my car can't be salvaged. I'll be carless soon, a material thing that I was never able to afford and recieved as a gift now gone. This car changed my life dramatically when I was working at Disneyland.
This was my very first car accident and I really hope it's my last. I made it out fine, maybe a little more venom added to my PTSD, but I'm just fucking grateful I didn't break or hurt anything.
