It also reveals a certain degree of cowardness since he shot in way he couldn't see her face, wich usually is a way to avoid guilt or remorse...by not seeing her face, he distances himself from her emotionally, allowing him to be able to go ahead with shooting her.

I thought execution style was between the eyes or in the eyes? If I wanted to kill someone that is where I would shoot them, but then I don't know how to use a gun, or want to kill anyone.

This is the most traditional execution style:

Shooting between the eyes I believe to be the fastest way to kill someone, it's pretty much instantaneous.
Anyway, there are other execution styles yes but the shooting in the back of the head I think is the most known one, if I'm not mistaken.
