Okay I have heard some say the "War on Women" is a misnomer but it appears to be the deciding factor of late.

I wonder what the Right will do to change the message. What's more if they are that upset about one provision of Healthcare reform then who is to say that the inevitiable bashing of healthcare reform wont drive them even further away. Think of it. If this issue of mandated birth control coverage is driving women out then it is a easy argument to conclude killing Healthcare reform would effect the same result.

Interesting read from the Huffington Post

Like a married couple that has different versions of the same fight over decades, the war on women will not "pass as an issue" until conservatives stop putting priests between women and their pharmacists and start listening to their real concerns. If the Republican Party stops trying to start a theocracy in women's pants, women might start listening to the Republican Party again.

A good start for Republicans might be to find some credible women to speak on their behalf. The first Bush had Mary Matalin. The second Bush had Karen Hughes. All Republicans have left is Ann Coulter, the Tokyo Rose of feminism.

So who is in the mood for a good old fashioned landslide ass stomping? Are we headed there?

The right-wing Republican nuts can't find enough current, ridiculous issues to drive voters away. They have to dredge some up from the 1950s. Incredible.

I think it is funny. About a month ago you could not convince me it would be anything other than Obama winning by a slim margin.

Now?? It is spinning up like the Right is going to be slaughtered. Still a ton of time between now and then but I would love to see it. They would have to take notice and change to a degree. To what degree I dont know. However a slim win will only make the bitter divide deeper. So I sincerely hope they are massacred.

I cannot for the life of me imagine any woman with self-respect voting Republicon in 2012.

When RNC Chairman, Reince Priebus claims that the Democrats are making up the war on women, 1.) He's lying. 2.) He's not giving women enough credit that they are smart enough to realize that the issue is unrelated to caterpillars and more related to Republicons.

However, as we already know, there are those who will vote against their own self interest no matter what. Hate for Pres. Obama will trump any gender-related issues. More's the pity. :help:

Oh, let the pandering begin. Come the Republican convention, all the women in the US will be lectured by one Sarah Palinesque speaker after another to be better wives, better mothers and good christian soldiers.

But the old white guys who hold up the Republican tent will throw their women some hope by starting to soft pedal some of the nonsense they have been spouting during the primaries. Except Santorum will still probably blow it and say something really alienating.

The issues facing women are exactly the same as those facing men. The lack of jobs, the housing market depression, $4 gas and creeping inflation.

I know the democrats want to talk about anything but these issues, but that's what will decide the election at the end of the day.

Well, I don't think Democrats made abortion or contraception into Republican Primary issues, Jack. Santorum and his pals did that all by themselves.

Women running from republicans? The republicans are driving them away. In the same way they are driving away anyone who isn't a wealthy, white, male, christian heterosexual.

Funny.

The difference is the Republicans can only think in "wedge issues," and the Democrats (some at least) actually seem to want to address real "issues."

I have to agree, to an extent, the "Independents" aka VOTERS have a pretty good way of being able to tell both parties what's most important to them.

When it comes to "Woman's Health" I can't help but think that the GOP has stepped in it big time. ..|

On a national level the GOP seems to being trying to dial things back a bit, but on a State Level GOP MALE GOVERNORS have been ratcheting things up against Woman, and Woman's heath to a degree that seems to harken back to the pre suffrage movement. :bartshock

To their own peril...

Smart Democrats would pounce on three of those issues. Gas is high because Republicans won't let the agency that's supposed to slap down speculators do its job. Jobs are still scarce because Republicans won't allow anything to pass that would help with job creation unless it also hurts the poor. Inflation is a problem because Republicans in Congress won't get serious about the deficit and raise revenue.

^ unfortunately we need to let the housing market correct itself (government intervention just makes it worse) which needs time to heal.

You could have fooled me about the Republicans caring about the economy. All I've heard over and over again is abortion, gay marriage etc.
It's one of the reasons my grandparents left it and now vote independent.

A realtor I talked to here a bit back said the best thing the government could do for housing would be to buy and blow up the bottom five percent of the listings.

I read of cities that are planning to do just that. Bulldoze major portions of the city just to be able to afford the cost of providing police, fire and infrastructure to the remaining areas.

It was in Detroit and from 2010. I haven't heard anything more so I guess cooler heads prevailed.

I think the "war on women" is total bullshit

But as a gay man it doesn't matter what I think

If "women" or enough of them are stupid enough to view this as a real issue, one that creates their decision to re-elect a President who is so over his skiis ......

well they say women are brighter than men

this would not be an example

I have to give the President's posse (oh wait is that racist???) an A+ for creating this issue and benefitting from it

let's see if it's a long lasting benefit

I don't have the link, but I heard on my radio that throughout the states, there have been over 1,200 bills introduced to impede/curtail issues connected to women's health (including reproduction). In Wasilla, AK there is a "legislator" that is linking Planned Parenthood with the Girl Scouts. Wasilla - the armpit of the great Northwest!

They tried doing that in Atlantic City years ago. Seems it's more expensive to remove debris containing lead and asbestos than to leave it alone. Preserving urban decay, if you will.

If the Republicons spent as much time "creating jobs" as they have denying their "war on women", unemployment might drop to 7.5% They doth protest too much. :p

So we need a bill that would hire people to tear down the worst houses... manually. :D

p.s. -- there was a building here with lots of asbestos in it; the guy who tore it down had foam sprayed on everything just ahead of the machines. It was weird watching demolition without dust!
...and maybe weirder watching dump trucks with loads that including suds.
