Wonder Woman Fans?

I think it needs to be an unknown that way you can't relate her to any other movies or tv shows. We need a fierce fresh face! But definitely not Lindsay Lohan's.

GL247 can tell you I'm a huge WW fan. Followed the comic series since starting my comic collection in the early 80s, and loved the live action series.
I was so pleased when Phil Jimenez brought the "spin" into the comic a few years ago during his stint as artist. The current series just ended without a clear resolution to the execution event, which I thought was well in-line with the characterization that the reboot the current series had introduced. Will be intersting as to how Infinite Crisis resolves continues the plot. Looking forward to the new series coming later this summer.

Who would I like to see as the film version? Not sure. Depends on the age level they're trying to play WW as. I like the idea of either Jennifer Connelly or maybe Anne Hathaway. Lynda Carter needs to have some role in the film... Hypolyta perhaps? It would be great to see her pass the bodice/breast plate on.

mikey

Joss Whedon promised he would keep the traditional elements of the costume intact, and also feature the Greek gods, etc.

He wants a young actress, early 20s. He said the character will be a "fish out of water" in Patriarch's World so it will be a coming of age type characterization. Plus if the movie is a hit, there will be sequels so the actress must be youthful.

ooooh i think Jennifer Connelly could work. hadn't thought of her as WW before.

sorry i revived an old thread, but i was looking for something and saw this one. i LOVE WW. if i wasn't so afraid that the old series would be silly i'd buy them. :(

When I was little, I wanted to BE Wonder Woman! (just how queer is THAT?! LOL) (Thank God THAT particular wish never came true!)

Were Lindsay Lohan to get the part, it would be a travesty to end all! Jennifer Connelly would be fantastic!

I'm a huge fan! I have WW stuff everywhere! i have old lynda carter dolls put away to the new alex ross figure and a lot of the stuff in between. my comic collection is huge! Do you guys have a fav story? i really liked a league of one and alex ross spirit of truth.i also really liked the WW stories from the 80's where she introduced the WW chest design. those books were around issue 300 and the art work was rather dark and creepy.she battled the silver swan and dr. psycho. they introduced lyta trevor from the alternative earth and the skeletal artemis who was the 1st WW showed up.i love that run.I'm so glad they brought Diana Prince back. the 2nd run was really missing something without her. i also miss steve trevor. his character was so fucked up and he kept dying and coming back. but i liked the soft side he brought out in her. remember 5 years ago when jiminez said she would loose her virginity? that never happened but they sure made Donna Troy a whore! guess it was the best DC comics could do.

I've never seen it before but I am looking forward to it when the i channel starts rerunning it.

Am I the last remaining gay man who likes Wonder Woman....?

I'm sure there are a few million or so floating around somewhere. I happen to be Wonder Woman's #3 fan in all the world. ;)

I would love to see a non-Caucasian WW this go-around. Especially a spicy Latina chica.

Someone I knew was complaining big time at Jessica Alba being cast as Invisible Woman (Susan Richards of the Fantastic Four) in the FF movie. I said, yeah, but more because she didn't seem to be the type and a little too young, more than her ethnicity. I suggested Jessica Alba being a better fit for the Elektra role, and perhaps they could have switched w/Jennifer Garner taking on Sue. Then I suggested a number of other characters I wouldn't mind being played by Hispanic actresses. He really started getting anal and picky, which really started me getting annoyed. I don't think he's a racist by any means, but I'm not waiting for them to come out with a popular Hispanic character to see diversity in casting. I don't oppose having a Hispanic Wonder Woman, maybe just to piss the guy off. I haven't talked to him in a while, anyway, plus he refuses to tell me what his full name is, so... I have little respect for him.

Viva la female Caucuasian comic book characters played by Hispanic actresses. (Take that, Essex!) :p

No, I love Wonder Woman. Lynda Carter was born to play Wonder Woman.

Back in 1997, I suggested Lynda Carter on a message board, and some online Wizard staffer responded by asserting she was too old. I don't think she was back then, but for the movie coming out in 2007, I would agree w/her that if Lynda were to be given a role it should be as Hippolyta. Another suggestion someone brought up to play WW would be Melina Kanakaderes. Just *please* don't give it to Sandra Bullock. Plllllllleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaassssssssseee!

She's ok, but I never got why would someone fly an invisible jet if people could still see you through it. Maybe she was jealous of Superman?

Heh! That reminds me... ever see the episode of Family Guy where they had Wonder Woman flying in her Invisible Jet taking care of... um... business while Superman flew on by to say hello? !oops! ](*,)!oops!

I think Jennifer Connelly is a dead-ringer for WW, but she might be too old by Hollywood standards.

Well, compared to one's assertion that Lynda Carter's too old, and some still wanting her to play WW even at this late date, I would say Connelly is fine by that standard, but I'm not sure she has the right look or style to be the beautiful Princess Diana.

Bad Choices for a Wonder Woman Actress?

All I know is that it'd better not be someone like Sarah Michelle Gellar. *shudder* I don't have anything against HER, specifically, but I just don't want the Wonder Woman movie ruined.

You think SMG would be a bad choice? Imagine the train wreck that would ensue, if, as I mentioned above, they even thought of casting Sandra Bullock? Ughck!

Vomiting at horrendously bad idea for casting Wonder Woman?

Lindsay Lohan??? As Wonder Woman???
Pardon me, I think I need to vomit. (*p*)

Here, let me add a 'Vomit' icon for your thread.

OK, there... commence 'vomitation' now. ;)

DC comics' Wonder Woman Fans of the legacy and longevity of high numbering?

I don't know anything about the old show but since making a friend at DC comics, i've been following the latest stuff there and wonder woman is in the middle of this huge controversy because she flat out executed a man. an important man in comic book lore. its nuts. the whole thing is called infinite crisis and they are turning everything upside down

What pissed me off is that they cancelled her ongoing series to relaunch it w/a new #1 which means that it'll be positively decades before she surpasses #329 (the number where her first series that started way back in the 1940's ended at), on any series!. Unless DC tries to pull what Marvel did and give them both #s, add in a cheap stunt where eventually, they just retroactively say Volume II was never cancelled and count up the #'s to make it so that the second series never finished and they were just trying to jumpstart sales w/a new #1, complete w/variant cover. (Yuck, how 90's is that...?)

it would be nice to see lynda carter in the movie but if it keeps true to the comic than she is still to old to play diana's mother. wonder woman's mother is actually younger than her daughter. diana gave up her immortality to travel to "man's world" though she is aging much slower than a normal mortal she is still aging. Hippolyta is not aging at all. i really wish they had'nt killed her off in the comics. the struggle they had as mother and daughter really humanized diana.as for the comic there is gonna be a wonder woman monthly all star book coming out next year illustrated by Adam Hughes. i love his art work! hopefully by than the new series will be on track and not be late. i guess dc is having a hard time getting their books out since 52 came out. the book is weekly and they are feeling the stress of not having it be late. so i guess that is their 1st priority.i do not think the movie will be made anytime soon. i remember in the 90's when a tv version like lois and clark was to come out starring wonder woman. they even had an actress picked out. i forgot her name but she was a playboy model i think. never happened.heroines do not do as well at the box office as their male counterparts.the toys do not sell as well either. boys wo'nt play with the girl figure and homophobe parents wo'nt let them. it will cost a lot to make and the studio may think they wo'nt get a return on it. i would love, love, love to see a movie! and all this actress talk is mute cause you know they will get an unknown and put her with big name actors.
