Wonder Woman? Seen It? Going To?

Record opening weekend. Over 100.5 million in just the U.S.

I'd like to see it.

I just watched it, it was p dope. Miles away from being as good as Logan, though, but still cool. Gal Gadot was awesome at kicking some ass.

I have no desire to see it get back to me when Hollywood finally makes a super hero movie with a gay MALE lead as the star. Not interested in seeing a female centered movie so I will pass.

So you never saw any of the Disney princesses when you were young? No Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella? How about All About Eve? Oh man, you are missing out on Life.

It's a lost cause trying to tell him that he's missing out by not focusing entirely on his own reflection in media.

Some people are like that tho.

I haven't been to a movie in several months and don't have too much interest in going, but I should try because it sounds good.

Not in our life time.

Let's look at it this way. The star trek franchise has tackled just about every controversial subject under the sun. Even the subject of religion and healthcare have been explored. And yet, the subject of homosexuality has been strictly hands off.

A gay superhero? Not in our life time. I'm not holding my breath for it. When it comes down to it, Hollywood is a bunch of cowards who will not touch this subject with a 10 foot pole just because they are afraid of the backlash resulting from it.

Move on.

I thought the Asian Sulu in the new Star Trek was gay and had a husband and kid---much to George Takai's protests.

I'm confused. Does "Break-your-Back" (Brokeback) Mountain need to have two "superheroes" in it for it to be about homosexuality? How about two guys bucking the "Old West" trend and being ay?Did I miss something here? "Philadelphia," with Tom Hanks? Is this not about homosexuality? Does it need to be a fictional character? Isn't it a higher reflection that both these films reflect real life? Exactly where is Hollywood a "bunch of cowards who will not touch this subject with a 10 foot pole"? "The Liberace Story" with Michael Douglas and Matt Damon? You need to get out more, son. And, as mentioned, Sulu (who IS in the latest Star Trek movie and who IS gay. And obviously, this was an acknowledgment of George Takei, whether he wanted it or not. The point is, there's a scene where Sulu walks over to his husband and their child, and they put their arms around each other and walk away. And Kirk stands and watches them, as though the director wants it clear that Kirk saw them - and it was nothing unusual, except he'd never seen Sulu with anyone!).
Besides, there have been gay comic book superheroes for at least 3 decades and the readership never took a dive for that. Who do you think goes to these movies? The fans who have been supporting the characters for years.
You might want to think that statement over again, because I'm sure you just wrote out of passion, and not factual memory.

I guess he also never saw The Wizard of Oz. Lady Sings The Blues. The Rose. Thelma and Louise. The Lucy Show. Bewitched. And ANY Julia Roberts, Katharine Hepburn or (gasp! ) Bobo Streisand's movies. Hey, Yentl comes close enough to being gay. Girl pretends to be boy and falls in love with a ...man....what's that? You know the storyline? Okay, but it could be gay!

Oh, I imagine he's seen some of those. And probably complained the whole time it wasn't an all-male cast. He's, let's call it 'not overly fond' of women.

OK, I'll bite.

Gay people make up everyday folks. My honey is a college student. I'm an engineer. I have gay friends who are furniture designer, computer programmer, accountant, teacher, you name it.

I'm tired of seeing gay movie after gay movie made about some tragic event entirely about gay characters. I want to see everyday characters being gay.

What about the latest sulu character you ask? Well, it was revealed that a kiss was suppose to be in the scene, but the cowards took it out. Normal everyday people have physical contact with each other. They share kisses. They make romantic physical contact.

You may be perfectly content that the only representation we get in the cinema is a neutered gay guy. Sorry, but I am not ,especially when we are in the 21St century and the director still has to fight tooth and nail to get a sole gay moment scene into a film.

Super hero movies are fun to watch because the super hero characters have some kind of quality that normal everyday people can relate to. They're not perfect beings. And they have plenty of straight sexual tension. No gay ones, though. Too squeamished for that.

Sorry, I'm not content with how we are still portrayed by Hollywood. I stand by what I said before. They are a bunch of cowards. They will tackle every social issue under the sun except this one.

A gay super hero and main super hero will come soon enough. Marvel will be the one that do it since they literally change characters around a lot and made a lot of already existing super heroes diverse when it comes to current comics.

I mean they are the ones putting out Black Panther. A black super hero is unfortunately going cause controversy when it really shouldn't. I am just hoping they nail this when it comes to the movie because I think it will help change things even more down the road.

DC is pretty good when it comes to their tv universe, they don't have any gay super heroes but they have gay characters littered through all their series for a few years now. So honestly the next step is only a matter of time, it will obviously cause controversy but I think the tides are changing when it comes to this where the controversy isn't going outweigh the people who want it.

At the same time I don't want to see a gay super hero saving people from a burning building and then swooping down kissing his lover. Nor do I want to see something super tragic where he loses his partner and is the reason why he's a super hero.

I want to see that his sexuality is a part of his character but not a representative. That it's important and does drive motivation for the character but doesn't define him. There's a fine line between a good gay character and a catering one.

Second edit: Let's not pretend whatever they do with a gay super hero, Morrissey wouldn't be on here criticizing in some form or fashion anyway.

You're entitled to your wishes. Kindly keep in mind that they also didn't show black and white tv characters kissing each other until the late 60s because they knew it would "disturb people." And Cheerios had a controversy last year when they had a commercial that had a white mother and a black father and a mixed child. And people were furious, but Cheerios stood their ground. So looked at from that perspective, it's all a matter of timing, and there are things that movie viewers don't want to see, such as 9/11 movies. You're free to wait it out.
