can you add the colors next to the key, blue and bark blue is a little confuseing cause i can only see 2 shades of blue on here

Thanks, That map is fascinating.

Also its color coded is a secret for gay men and str8 woman. - who else can tell the difference between dark orange and rust.

metta, the more I look at this map, the happier i get about living in the dark blue.

^^^ If it isn't, why does black signify same-sex marriage, and why does it cover Canada that has same-sex marriage?

That is a dark blue....sometimes known as a midnight blue. Are you sure that you are gay? ;)(*8*)

(seriously though....I think your colors on your monitor may not be balanced properly)

Dahling they're completely different colors:

Some of you fellas must be color blind. :-)

Thanks for posting this Metta. Very helpful!

So, does the Canadian govt. recognize foreign marriages? Maybe it's implied since the country itself allows same sex marriages. Hmmm...

Just a little info about the situation in Mexico. There are 2 states that have same sex marriage (or civil unions, more on that later), Coahuila in the north and Mexico city.

-The only marriage legally valid in Mexico is the civil one. Thus a civil sex same union has exactly the same rights and privileges than a straight civil union. Church weddings have no validity whatsoever, so not marrying in a church is of no consequence to me or other gays here.

-Marriages (even the gay ones) in the state of Coahuila are legally valid and recognized in every other state in Mexico by law. Thus making same sex marriage legal in every other state, and effectively in all the country. So, although many other states don't perform same sex civil unions, many gay couples from other states go and marry in Coahuila and become legally married. So the gray part (no recognition of same sex couples) in the rest of Mexico is actually wrong, since by law every other state MUST recognize marriages performed in any other state.

Just don't go to Belize for the weekend...

^^^ Especially since finding a guy you want to spend the rest of your life with is the easy part!

the big mass of geyness in Asia is depressing.

I'm told that Jamaica has a de facto death penalty...carried out on the spot by guys with machetes.

Jamaica is not a place for gay people to go. Ever.

Thank God I live in South Africa.

But I want you to know that it didnt come easy, we had to fight to get it (our gay rights to marraige etc.) written into our constitution. And it cost a lot of money.

First country in the world to have gay rights written into its Constitution. And it only took overthrowing white minority rule, a fortune, and lots of beatings and death to achieve it!

Seriously, on this Stonewall Day I'd like to congratulate the citizens of South Africa on that achievement.

I'm also surprised at India, life in prison for being gay! (somehow not surprised about Pakistan or Bangladesh).
In that whole region, hypocrisy is a way of life. Male-male sex was very definitely part of their tradition, and may still be, behind closed doors that is. But every once in a while a gay person will get denounced by an enemy, or the government feels like making an example of somebody, and they throw the book at him.

PS and please remember homosexual acts were theoretically illegal in many states in the US right up till 2003...
