World of Warcraft

I played WoW for just under two years, finally giving it up February of 2009.

The only character I had that wasn't just a way to hide from mooches was Ozymandius, my Undead Priest. Our guild raided 3-4 nights per week, end-game by the time Lich King released.

I was Priest class lead for a few months, even fought for top spot Horde side on my server for a few weeks.

There was one Resto Shaman that could out-heal me in a raid, and we had a blast every time we had a close night on the meters. Warcraft, for me, was a game to be enjoyed. I spent as much time on TS laughing my ass off as I did grinding. Being good at it helped; I had a group anytime I asked and we were a tight raid core.

But all that was years ago, and sure I miss my online friends, but I picked music and haven't really looked back except to check in on how they're doing. It's a commitment that I outgrew, especially once the expansion stirred things up.

But anyway, ancient history. If I ever get back into it, I'll post my server info and throw some heals at anybody that's interested.

Have fun, though, and steer clear of the politics and the BS if you can. ..|

ps: For the Horde.

I still play alot, i dont raid, only pugs. i pvp mostly on my warrior, i some time live stream my pvp. Jimboy - Thunderhorn - EU

you guys are on US servers, im on europe ones

i beat up horde for laughs and giggles!!!

Me (warrior), Ret Paladin (famous one) and a paladin healer, ripping up ogrimmar last night, i think i was on a 20 kill streak.

Good times!

^ he did as well. but still, real together time is quite different ;)

after downing the lichking (other char) - at the moment i canceled my account. i'll be back for the addon of course :)

We have downed LK also and I am REALLY struggling to find a reason to continue to play (for this xpac). If WoW keeps up its LOLcasual gameplay style, I may drop it altogether.

My BF has also been harping on me to quit as well so we can spend more time together. I have cut back significantly on my gameplay (maybe 15 hours a week at most) and I don't play on the weekends.

oh i quit playing on the weekends a long time ago. i even moved away from the server top raid, so that i have the weekend free. much much more relaxed :)

antares81, I started playing shortly after the games was orignally released, to gear in orignal wow it took months to get decent gear, farming and farming. Only some people had gear like mine and people in my guild, people would stand around you inspecting you because you had great gear. Now everyone can get gear easy as pie, and no one stands out, not even people with ledgendary weapons.

You can clear all raids and get no loot for weeks on end. There was no badge loot or heriocs.

I miss those days, i'm not saying get rid of these things but badge loot should be starting gear for say ulduar, you gear in ulduar for ToC and you gear in ToC for ICC.
Just making better badge loot makes things WAY to easy to get to high end content.

Don't even get me started on Gear score.

Personally, I like that Blizz is making the game more accessible to casual players. You still have to be dedicated to get the truly good stuff, but it doesn't take a month long solitary confinement.

I know what you mean, I used to be a zombi when playing wow, but these days raids don't take lots and lots of time, only trying to learn how to kill new bosses can take time, people don't have the patience for spending lots of time on wipeing, so its alot different.

I just don't think it should be as easy as it is now to gather high level gear, you should get gear at your level of play.

lol gearscore .. ePeen++!

anyway .. the problem with that is just that they moved away from the "cool armor" to "stupid mounts".

if the hard-mode tokens would stand out as the mounts do, people would still look at your shiny armor.
but forget about that inspecting - that was because at that time most people merely hit the 60 and didn't know yet what was available in this game, nor did wowhead etc exist. (allakhazam and thot though, but not that many knew abou it).

we had horde first onyxia kill back then .. after just two evenings of trying. half the realm was crossing fingers for us, and we finally downed the old lady we went to forge quel serrar. by the time we were done with this we got whispers over whispers from other guildies and friends ..
people were lining up in front of orgrimmar and expecting us to do a parade .. and it was fucking crowded like i have not seen in this game before, only later to be topped by the AQ opening.
this is until today THE wow moment for everybody who was part of it, but we also all know that something like that will never happen again :) the "magic" just isn't there anymore, there will be much more to discover - but it's not like the old days anymore where you were running around like a kid in a candy store - it's all business as usual now ;)

PS: damn was my T2 helmet fugly!

I do not miss vanilla at all, save the awesome memories of 40 man raiding and being the only warlock. :D

I am addicted to leveling, and thus I have not raided like I used to, now my raids are spread about on different toons. Healing for one guild on my druid (Alliance), DPS'ing as a warlock (Alliance) and now healing as a priest for the Horde. (The rest of my 80s are just used for professions.)

I am quite happy Blizzard has made gear easier to get for alts, but I am also sad that it trivializes raids like Naxx and to an extent, parts of Ulduar.

Corny, it is true that the original magical factor to WoW is gone, and I've been praying for 2 expansions now that they find a way to bring it back. Any amount of that magic would be nice.

Luckily for me, I have different outlets to enjoy in WoW if I am feeling a bit bored in game. (Although I am burnt out right now.) If I am not raiding, I will go to a battleground or roleplay. My first and only server I will call home is Argent Dawn, home to very few RP'ers anymore. It's all about PvE now.

I don't play as much as I used to.

Last summer, when I was unemployed I would make a pot of coffee and get in front of the computer around 6am ish and literally be there until dinner time, almost every day of the week. Now that I am working again I usually only get in the game each night after work just long enough to run a couple PUGS for badges. And that's not even every night of the week, maybe only 2-3 nights.

I also hardly play on the weekends anymore. I'm a casual player, I don't take the game all that seriously, but weekends seem to bring out the really immature players that even frustrates casuals like me.

I will admit that I will miss vanilla. I've had several undead toons and thinking back on that undead starting zone brings back alot of good memories. I still have the gaming guide and sometimes browse through it and remember way back when.

Good times.

I am also not here to argue but i can grantee something, orignal wow was not borring. It was alot more socal and people were generally nicer. 40 man raids, talking on ventrilo, talking as a guild deciding who would benfit more from recieving loot and then giving it too them.

I personally think achievements are great, but you shouldnt be able to link them, it should stay a personal achievement. These days, if you don't have the achievement you don't get invited into raids. which is why these days there are so many players who don't know how to play because they are constantly being removed due to low GS or no achievement and they don't get the chance to learn, get the achievement or get better gear, resorting to badge loot.

If you experenced orignal wow you would miss it too, there is only a select few who don't miss it because they might not have had the chance to experence the whole game before the expansion came out.

Its the reason why alot of people made level 60 twinks during BC/Wrath because they missed it. At one point, alot of us contacted blizzard asking them to create a lvl 60 capped server and old tallents again, but they replyed with no basicly.

WTF maxpowr9, already done LK?

Damn. Carry me through content please.

LMAO. My guild can blow through ICC25 normal in 1 raid night (about 3 hours). Most guilds now can go 11/12 ICC25 normal in a raid night and wipe to LK for the rest of it. We spent 3 weeks on LK (20+ hours of raiding) before we actually killed him so we definately paid our repair bills to him. We still don't consider LK farm content because there is just so much RNG to make the fight go wrong. Heroic bosses are definately a step up but I think many of them are still easier than LK.

It's not really a "hardcore vs casual" arguement, it's a matter of "effort vs. laziness". With less margain for error, it becomes much more difficult to carry a bad player through current content.

I have only 1 gripe with current progression: Blizzard should make tier pieces "raid only" like in BC. Have off-set pieces available through emblems so others won't complain but leave tier to tokens dropped in raid only.

I automatically assume they are Raiding more than 9 hours a week. And therefore have no life. And are not indicative of the main player base.

Most Americans watch more than 9 hours of television a week. Do they have no life also?

you guys are either quite determined or we make to many breaks ;) we need about 4h incl Sin, and then we quit and save the LK for another night.
I hate that fight ;)

In our case it is "Hardcore vs. Casual." We've been stuck on Sindy for several weeks now in 25 and Arthas in 10. We are definitely putting in a lot of effort.
hmm where is the problem with Sin if you down her in 10? It's all just coordination ..

that ...

I got some pvp friends and got them to get up in pve, then we run ICC 10 every once in a while, got into ICC 25 last night because they were desprate for a tank and i was absolutly fine, i'm 56k buffed HP. i've got 5.1k gs which is fine, i just wish people would take that into consideration all the time, not just when there desprate for a tank.

Yeah I can't really raid. I quit WoW because of school and just came back and I apparently need a 5.5k GearScore + 7/12 achievements to even get into ICC on my server.

O.o

Yeah. I know what you mean. Its a catch-22. Many times they wont even let a guy into TOC without already having the achievement! lol! If I already had the achievement and the gearscore then I would not be asking to join their damn raid!

They want to make it easier on themselves by inviting people that already now the instance. You are going to have to do a lot more PVP to artificially raise your gearscore with wrathful and relentless gear to get into raids that require a GS of 5K or higher. From then on, you can roll on any PVE gear that drops to replace it. The PVP gear is actually pretty good. The stuff I purchased has sent my haste sky high. Also, try and find a guild that will run you through the first four boss of ICC. That should get you the achievement and the GS you need to move into higher progression. Keep an eye on trade chat too.

This worked for me and my GS is 5562 now.

No Corny, people take breaks during trash pulls and they're expected to be back when it comes time to pull the boss. You don't need 25 people circle jerking over trash. If you're not back, we have people waiting on the bench ready to take your spot.

Mind you that was normal ICC. Heroic modes have slowed us down alot. We spent the entire week on hard modes and only managed 7 of them. Still for our first week, not too bad. 10-man practice helped alot.

@Antares81

Mind you on many of the fights in ICC it only takes one bad raider to wipe the entire group. When you spend 3 weeks fucking wiping to defile on LK you will understand the plight of 'baddies'.
