The last time I was at The Beverly Hills Hotel they left La Croix in my room. I’d never!

I think the name of the place was American Motel in Leavenworth, KS. The hubby and I had gone to visit our first grandchild and my son at Ft. Riley, and stayed downtown at the Marriott. However, we ended up adding one night to our stay and thought it would be no problem finding a hotel. We were wrong. There was a huge Jehovah Witness convention in town and nothing could be had except one that wanted $945 per night. Being cheap, I said we'd sleep in the car but let's look around. We found the hotel which immediately said "sketchy" when the night manager came in from outside wearing a tether on his leg. The place reeked of cheep cleaning solution. The key to the door was an actual key and he mentioned he "had just finished cleaning the room but if we needed towels, come back to the office." Who cleans rooms after 11 p.m. at night unless they are renting by the hour?!?! We clicked on the light as we entered the room. The lampshade looked as if it had been used to beat someone over the head. it was bent and there as a large hole in it and a large cockroach sunning itself. We left our suitcases in the car for fear of what we might bring home and flopped on the bed after a long day of driving and visits. The bed was like a rock, the sheets had holes where they had simply worn out but we grabbed some shut-eye. In the morning, we showered with our flip-flops on so we'd not catch whatever was stuck to the bathtub. The towels looked like they had been used in an escape attempt at Leavenworth prison but we got dried off. As we turned in the key, the same manager asked if we'd like a breakfast? Egads...no. I even passed on the coffee and we drove to the nearest McDonalds! I just checked on-line and it looks like they may have painted the place since we were there. We should have looked at the stars -- it was given 1 star with comments like "we'd have given a minus but that was not an option."

It would be easier to name the good one. Most have been sleazy. I believe that furniture from one was picked up on junk day. I found mold once in a coffee maker.
