This is the centipede-eating-bat video I alluded to earlier:

As you can probably tell from my many postings to this thread, I do love an insect or a spider. They're quite fantastic animals.

-T.

The only insects I love are ants.

I can't stand inch worms. Ugh. I hate the spring when they dangle down from the tree tops on their webs and sway in the wind. During high school I'd walk home, and I'd hate walking into them. I would just freak out when one would land on me. I guess that's one reason I'd always wear hoodies or long sleeve shirts :p

As soon as I got him I'd throw all of my clothes in the washing machine.

Well most of the insects are freaking disgasting, but the most disgusting thing that has ever walked into my house is the cockroach!

Here in the Delmarva region, we're dealing with stinkbugs. Strange things is, they're indigenous to China which means we can thank Walmart, Target, etc., since the damned things basically hitched a ride in the packing of all the cheap shit that they "import" from China.

Having studied Zoology, I can't say that I'm afraid of any sort of insect. I find them fascinating and some, such as butterflies and moths, are really very beautiful. There are certainly some insects I wouldn't want to be bitten by if I was in a tropical country, but that's because of the diseases they carry.

I'm not overly keen on spiders in the house, but in the garden they're fine too.

I don't what kind of bug this is, but I took this picture at Saskatchewan River Crossing, In Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada in July 2009:

The body was about 3-4 inches long and the antennae about twice as much... Oh! and it flies!

It's clearly a beetle Boris and most beetles can fly. I think it's likely to be Monochamus scutellatus oregonensis or the Spruce Sawyer beetle:

It can damage trees, but is otherwise completely harmless.

What about Camel Spiders in Iraq, they look horrible and are said to be fearless.

I might be an elephant but I scream like a mouse when I touch one

Palmetto bugs (a.k.a. flying roaches from hell) and Jerusalem crickets (a.k.a. potato bugs):

Silverfish are the worst insects ever. Without question.

I notice several folks mention spiders. My grandmother brought us all up to not fear or hate them. She always used to say that they were good luck, so at best we'd just put them outside when they were in a bad spot. I always attributed her mindset to her Seminole upbringing...but I honestly have no idea.

However...

That one gigantic thing hideously devouring a bird on the previous page would probably be a bit much even for her, were she still living.
