Would Ron Paul Win as a Third Party Candidate?

Exactly.

Ron Paul has a strong following. Not strong enough, sadly, but enough to syphon a good chunk of votes away from whatever the GOP ticket is....( Romney/Christie, if I had to guess...)

This should insure another four years of Obama. But, anything is possible.

There are a sizeable chunk of folks that would vote for Satan himself rather than to see that "Socialist Kenyan" back in office, and of course the GOP is doing all it can to make voting as difficult as possible for college students, the poor, African Americans and any other group that tends to lean toward the Democratic party.

Never underestimate the power of Karl Rove..

They stole one election, they could steal another...

I'm glad you brought this guy's name up. Rovian politics is the dirtiest politics the country has ever seen. Whisper campaigns, to take your own weakness, and through repetition (similar to brainwashing), make your competition or opponent look guilty of that weakness instead.

The best one by far was in the South Carolina primary back in 2000 when the Rove smear machine implied that McCain's adopted daughter who's isn't white was his illegitimate daughter. It was basically playing out racism to oust McCain. It worked.

Fear and smear. The "swiftboating" of John Kerry was a good example

In 2004, the gay marriage ban fever was all a Rovian ploy. Fear and bigotry are central themes in Rovian politics.

But I'm off topic here. When I read about Rove I bristle.

it's odd, the occasional appeal of Paul and Libertarians - but it's cerebral, and will never surmount

the emotional bonds that keep the two pol parties together

for GOP - despite all the talk of small gov't, they will never desert the idea of powerful gov't force

they love police, long sentences and overcrowded prisons

for Dem's, despite the appeal of a small military and a dismantled security state

they will never abandon middle class benefits like social security and medicare

and they love unions, which are anathema in a Libertian Universe

Where do you get the idea that "unions... are anathema in a Libertian (sic) universe"?

I think things are going to get much worse. We are a month in already with the OE movements and those in government still are dragging their feet. I don't think anything will be done until right before the election. By then I think it will be too late.

Over A Third Of Americans Support Occupy Wall Street Protests

WASHINGTON -- More than one-third of the country supports the Wall Street protests, and even more – 58 percent – say they are furious about America's politics.

I think these numbers will be getting much higher with the coming months. This is why I think Ron Paul could win in a three way.

talking to libertarians

from what I understand, they believe that unions are a political/socialist creation

that don't respond properly to market forces, or more precisely,

restrict an employers' freedom to respond to market forces

You're talking to bloody Randians. They're not really libertarians, they're propertarians.

The foundation of libertarianism is self-ownership. Self-ownership means freedom of association. Unions are as much as form of freedom of association as are corporations.

Note that they don't care that corporations restrict workers' ability to respond to market forces -- a big mark of a propertarian.

No. He will not run and certainly wouldn't win.

.... they will vote for the candidate with the best plan for fixing it... that candidate when President will NOT do what he says BUT we will always vote for the guy who has the best plan.... NO DOUBT....

That's an interesting concept. Are we trying it out in the next election? Would it were so. You presuppose an objectively best plan. Voters are use a subjective standard - if they even know what the issues are. I fear that never the twain shall meet.
