Would you be able to marry someone who has the same name as your brother?
What about your father?
What about someone who has the same name as you?

This guy is everything you look for in a guy except his name, would you still marry them? Just ignore the fact that not all places allow gay marriage because they will eventually.

Why not? I don't understand why it should prevent me from doing so.

It's just a weird thought that crossed my mind today when I saw someone hot who had the same name as my brother. I think it would be a bit weird but if I liked the guy enough I would go for it.

My brother's name, yes.

My dad's name? I really, really doubt I'd find anyone with his name anyway, so I don't worry about it.

Ah. You're thinking 'incest'. If you start thinking that way, you have to start eliminating cousins and nephews and uncles and. . .

Well, you'd be eliminating a whole lot of guys just because of their names.

It's so easy to change your name nowadays, not a deciding factor in the slightest. He could be named after my worst enemy and still it wouldn't matter!

Marry? I couldn't even be together in a relationship with him.

My boyfriend has the same name as my half brother. Every now and then it strikes me as a tiny bit weird but overall its no big deal. :)

Sure, I'd just think up a cute knick-name for him and use that. ;)

Would there be a problem? Yes I could marry a man with the same name as my father or my brother. It wouldn't be my father or my brother.

As long as it's not a doppelganger, why not? Some names are pretty (read: too) common.

If it was just a first or middle name I could. If it were a full name, it just seems weird.

my boyfriend's middle name, AND his father's first name are both the same as my first name. i should ask him how he feels about it.

Since my father's name is also my name, yes it would be a trifle awkward. But nothing we can't fix with some nicknames. I'll be Robert and he can be Mister Snooky-Pants.

I don't have a brother; and it might be odd to date a man who has my sister's name (Suzette), but I think I could handle it. I come from a family where men's names repeat indefinitely; I am one of five Roberts in my extended family, and there are four Michaels and three Matthews. No Johns or Jameses (the two most common names in the US) though. So I kind of expect the possibility of a repeat in my (imaginary) mate.

As a matter of fact, my aunt Terry married a man named Terry her first marriage out the gate, and it was wildly confusing for everyone involved. But we all got used to it eventually...we just called him Boy-Terry and that was that.

My family is famous for same names. My cousin once had a boyfriend with the same name as my uncle (his father). I have another uncle who has been married many times. His first wife had the name of my aunt (his sister). His next two wives had the same name as my grandmother (his mother) and his current wife has almost the same name as my aunt (his sister). Another uncle is married to a woman with the same name as my sister. And, my gay cousin has the same name as our step cousin who is the step-son of my oft married uncle. confusing, no?

I have the same name as my girlfriend's dad. No one seems to think it's odd. Of course, it's an extremely common name.

If it's a question of the name bringing up that person to your mind, use a pet name. :)
And make sure you yell that name out loudly when you fuck.
