  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

would you eat meat created in a laboratory?

As long as I don't get salmonella, botulism, or e. coli poisoning; why not?! With they way fish are going, nowadays, it may be the only way to have real quality ahi tuna sashimi. I love meat too much and if all animals become endangered, I feel this could be the wave of the future, to keep our high standard of life.

Frankly, by now, we should be growing our own replacement limbs and organs!! Or even better you can have a back-up body from the shoulders, down: ready to go in case you damage your "corpus natali" beyond repair!

Also, I don't buy one iota into all the hooey about how much better organic is, it is merely a ploy to extort money from gullible bored housewives and tree-huggers.

You don't even know if you'll wake up in the morning, tomorrow's not guaranteed. I'm going to indulge in the pleasures of life as much as I can afford it. No regrets.

I would but only if they're using cow stem cells and even then people will just argue and claim what they're doing to extract it is cruel. Some people argue for the sake of argument. Besides the stem cells could be used for other things, I mean I'm not a vet so I don't know if animals really have any transplant surgeries but stem cells can grow organs so.. that'd really be a better use of it, no?

Also, this wasn't the first time somebody tried to create meat in a lab.. A bunch of scientists in Japan attempted to do it from poop because Tokyo was more or less swimming in sewage mud and this was a way to solve that issue. Of course it's cleaner than poop and on a scientific level it's genius but I doubt our feeble human minds can get around the whole "this meat came from poop. I am indirectly eating poop. No thanks." unless you have a poop fetish then it's all up to you XD.. It's pretty brilliant but I don't think I'd try it.. even though it doesn't look, smell or (I think) taste anything like poop.

There is research about growing replacement limbs and hearts and kidneys, etc. from stem cells. I think it'd be amazing because you could just grow a heart instead of sit every night praying for someone to die so you could get a heart transplant. However, there's ethical debate about it, I don't know exactly what it is but some people decided there was a bogus reason as to why it's inhumane.. the same people who say abortion is perfectly fine :/ (not starting any wars I respect your opinions)

Sorry, can't edit my post but I wanna say that after reading a bit the ethical debate is that the harvest of stem cells kills the embryo in the process.. So in the end it's a matter of who's life is more important to save, the person that needs the heart or the unborn baby.

Never. If meat can be "produced", it is derived from and composed by live cells that physiologically have the same value as the rest of any other complex organism. Yes, no animals are killed, but it still is animal tissue that, potentially, can be developed into a full organic structure. I refuse to partake in something so repulsive.

I would try it as long its not loaded with Chemicals and crap and it taste like real meat and its not produced in china. I am for "Saving" or trying to save the planet
