So this great guy applies for a position you have open in your company. He is very qualified, has the right amount of experience, references, everything. That night you google him and find naked pics and even sex videos of him all over the net.

Would you hire him?

It would depend on the job. If you hire him for a school position, the students and then their parents will eventually find his stuff on the internet and make a big fuss.

One of my early jobs was drafting for a (straight) architect who knew I was also escorting at the time. One of my first independent projects was for a (gay) couple who had seen naked pics of me and also knew I was escorting. Later, while working with a very fine, very distinguished (gay) architect, he mentioned that he had been told by a (straight) former architecture school classmate of mine that I seemed unconcerned about people knowing that I was escorting, and that he and others thought my attitude was both gutsy and cool.

Even if it weren't for my own somewhat related experiences, it wouldn't make any difference.

It would depend on the position he was filling. Probably not for a position with too much public exposure where customers might object, but if not too public, yes I would hire him.
 
I should also add that the architect I mentioned above later recommended me for a teaching position at the university where he also taught. More or less told them I was the only man for the job.

Finally, and most importantly, I got my biggest break when, a few years after graduation, I ran into a guy from school, a few classes ahead of me. We had never spoken before, but we recognized each other. He asked me how I was doing, I told him I had just lost my last job, and he asked if I could work for the weekend and help out on a project that needed to be finished in a few days. I did, and stayed for 3 years at one of the most important architectural firms in the world, where I did nothing of consequence except make contacts which have proved immensely consequential in forging a career. Essential, actually.

The guy from school became a friend, and he later told me that he remembered me primarily because he had seen me shirtless on campus, I had smiled and said hello to him in an elevator, and that he had heard a rumor that I was working my way through school as an escort. Talent had nothing to do with it. And notoriety didn't hurt.
