i'm not sure.
I would if there is something for me

How about you ?

No, I would not join them because I believe in God and an afterlife, but I could see a time where I could become disenchanted with some existing religion and look for another way to worship.

This church above seems to be people looking for a community and not for a God to worship or believe in. I get that being in a community is a good thing.

Church is currently defined as a Christian place of worship vs Temple and so on so, by that definition, it's not possible for atheists to have one.
From the Greek word ekklesia, which is defined as “an assembly” it would apply only in that sense.

I wouldn't join any group, they're all sects with the arrogance to state that what other believe is wrong, and I don't need to belong to have faith or live a righteous life and have a social life.

Guy sat down in the middle of the thumbnail is hot.

Would I join Athiests Church? Absolutely not my god is not static, needs no buildings or ritual. My relationship is so very personal that it is wonderful, faithless that it is impossible for me to personify lovel

The church experience was never meaningful to me so probably not. It's also a big component of why the indoctrination didn't stick well.
Although I'd totally join something like the Atheist Community of Austin. They do lots of community outreach, events, and activism.

I think you guys are snarking at this a bit too easily. A lot of atheists end up missing the community aspect that the church used to serve for them. Belief isn't a choice. They didn't choose to be unconvinced of a god. So one path some atheists have tried out is recreating the community aspect the church gave them but without the religion.
I'm not a huge fan of it, but I get the motivation.

I also think this brings up an interesting topic. Cultural appropriation. Because in a sense the kind of knee-jerk reaction I'm seeing parallels the experience people are talking about during discussions of cultural appropriation.
A group claims a cultural artifact (the church) and misapplies the concept (to worship) for their own benefit, especially without giving credit to the host.
It's not a direct parallel, because Atheism isn't the dominant culture, but there're fragments there.

I don't get the church thing. Or the need to celebrate and affirm a belief in no belief.

It isn't a church. It is a club.

And if it has rituals, it is a cult.

ALthough Baptised a Catholic . There is no God. Ass holes Pray to a God that has never come to there or anyone elses aid period!

Indeed. I came here to post that an 'atheist church' is a bigger oxymoron than 'jumbo shrimp'.

Its NOT a belief.
So i don't believe in non belief doesn't make sense.
PeeOnMe didn't say that they don't believe in atheism.
They said that they don't believe in atheists.

In other words, there are no people that do not believe in a god.
Which I think is wrong. But oh well.

In the truest sense of the word an atheist would be comparable to one who is asexual. They are not against sex, asexual people have no sexual attraction towards others. I have yet to meet a person who espouses atheism who is not in reality an anti-theist.
If a person is in fact an atheist it doesn't mean that they are against theism or religion, it would mean that they are mot interested in God.

Anti-theism is a subsect of atheism, also essentially known as hard atheism. Soft atheism refers to the concept you're pointing to. Plenty of soft atheists exist but you're less likely to notice their presence because--what do they have to be vocal about? In addition there are cultures where religion is less prevalent and those people wouldn't even have a concept of a god. So again, what would they have to be against?

I think you see anti-theism in the West because of the prevalence of religion. Most people grow up religious and if they lose their faith, especially the more devout they were, it produces much more of a feeling of betrayal. It's not uncommon for these people to feel lied to. So it's unsurprising that you'd see more people explicitly against religion. Not helped by many churches lying, or not understanding, what atheism is.

I find it hard to believe - but enjoy going to a sing along - this appeals to me

they called it a church for tax purposes i guess.
A club do not have tax free status right ?

^ The only way they can get away with not paying taxes is by registering atheism as a religion, and that rather defeats the purpose of their beliefs.

I am not sure, but they might be able to register as a non profit organization.
