  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Would you open the door and go outside?

It looks as if this neighborhood has few if any street lights. A black person dressed in black and gray and walking in the street is in danger of getting run over at night. Not smart for these gentlemen to stick around after dark.

One can also take hookers and have them sing Agnus Dei.

I guess it's performance art, if a bit insipid.

The attire of the quartet, complete with dark sunglasses in weather not requiring shades, gives the impression of gangbangers, rightly or wrongly promoted by hip-hop and rap videos, replete with violent references. That White America might then believe what they ahve seen is not racism, merely conditioned response.

If you had dressed the party in typical middle class clothing of the area, there would be much less apprehension.

In addition, ever touching anyone's security camera, much less changing it, is enough reason for the police to have been called.

The intent may have been reconciliation, or not. If so, there are better ways to do it than this.

I most likely would open the door for a black visitor as soon as any other. Would I for four dressed in questionable attire or merely the fact that there were four? Possibly not.

This happens every year here and I said there was no need to because they ask for money. I let them in in the past but I don't like this door to door stuff even if it's just informational or whatever. I'd have slammed the door in their face (repeatedly)

Certainly excellant Christmas Carolers. But what point are they trying to make? Just because we made ourselves look scary and intimidating doesn't mean we are?

They could be dressed like Mormon missionaries or JWs and I would not open my door to five guys be they black or white.
They might be crooks, might be cops, either way I would be in trouble.

I would. I live in a fairly diverse urban neighborhood and am, for the most part, trusting of others. I'd be more cautious if it were night though, but that'd be with anyone coming unannounced to my door...not because of skin color or clothing type.

No Way!!!! I lock the damn doors when I hear the Christmas Carolers coming downtown....

I am so uncomfortable ...one year they ambushed me when I was at the back of my store and I was trapped having to listen. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to clap or tip them..OR tell them how much they annoyed me LOL

Last time my poor BF freaked...I yelled HURRY..LOCK THE FUCKING DOOR AND PUT THE BE BACK IN 1/2 HOUR SIGN ON....

I'd send Vannie out to tell them "you damn kids get off my lawn".

I liked it, actually.

if you look above her door directly above the wreath, you can see a camera mounted. at around 1:38 of the video. That's how they get the perspective from her view.. She clearly had to give the ok to mount the camera before they showed up, this seems clearly staged.

I probably would open the door a crack to find out what they wanted because I don't expect trouble in my neighborhood and this was in the daylight.

But seriously, they were pretty good.I enjoyed that. :)

The guy with the jingle bells approaching appears to be someone she already knows, which also makes this less than candid camera. It hadn't occurred to me before, but that is probably a wireless cam they brought with them. Dunno.

Of course the singing is beautiful, and a positive thing, but the supposed point is not what is presumed.
