  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Would you still date a guy if..........

Well, I don't agree with weed being illegal, so I wouldn't really have a problem with the fact that he was arrested for smoking it. Also, his being gang raped would be something that was terrible and beyond his control. If he was still mentally stable after all of that and had a personaity and body that I liked, I'd still continue dating him.

what he said^

Most ex-cons were incarcerated for a good reason. I wouldn’t like to find out just why that was by seeing it reenacted in my own home.

Depends on what you consider "good reason", here in Texas we probably have more people in prison for drug crimes than rape or murder combined. I can't count the times I've heard the issue of building more prisons come up, and can probably count on one hand the times people asked why there were so many people in prison in the first place.

Some of those drug convictions are worse than others of course, but there are plenty of people who're in prison that weren't dangerous to anyone going in, coming out - that's something else. But what do you expect when you lock up a stoner for years, that he's gonna come out thanking society for the hospitality?

The laws we have for automatic, non-discretionary sentencing are a farce frankly - so ultimately the blame must be placed on the voters who vote for people, who use "get tough" drug laws as a political circus to get elected.

For me, I probably wouldn't get serious with the guy until I was sure the situation was what he said it was. I don't smoke but that's really just a preference not a position. I think pot should be legal anyway.

The rape is problematic, that's a far more serious issue than the drugs. The possibility exists that if he hasn't dealt with it he would be incapable of sustaining the relationship.

I wouldn't get involved out of trying to "mother'" or help him because that would just end badly.

Indeedy. +1

5.

I'd continue to date him but before judging him for anything, I'd give some serious consideration to my past.

Not that I've been in prison for anything but none of us are perfect, correct?

Thank him for his honesty, inquire about his health status and offer him the same.

"after the 4th or 5th date he told you he was in prison 5 yrs ago for a 'minor' weed bust but was ganged raped repeatedly while in the lockup?"

I really don't see a Gay/Bi man turning away a guy that's gone through this if the guy appears to be sincere and wants a 2nd chance out of Life...

A straight woman might have 2nd thoughts dealing with a man that was filled with Dick while in prison...That would be a STRONG deal-breaker for a woman..Most men would keep being raped a secret...

Actually, I believe that would me closer to him, because he told me that and because I'd be sorry for him for ending in prison for such a petty "crime", as well as for being raped.

But I agree about testing - I doubt they put condoms on before the rape, and AIDS, as far as I know, is more spread in prisons than outside.
