  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Wow, even when a guy tries to stick around, he still turns her into a single mom

Um... Who first injected race into this again?

please don't shit on a platter and tell me it's chocolate mousse, i'm not as stupid as your race-baiting constituency. this thread title was about as innocent as OJ Simpson. "if i was going to create a bait thread, this is how i'd do it"

Latino's and Mexican's don't have a deadbeat parent stereotype. Quite the opposite.

That depends on who you're talking to. I know plenty of white guys who believe differently. It starts with "More kids than they can afford by - how - many women?" and spirals downward from there.

Not to say every racial group but white ppl, I can think of 3 (not counting white people) that don't have that particular deadbeat-in-a-short-list-'o-ways stereotype. But they've other shit On a similar intimate-elationship axis to deal with.

Well, I guess some people see racism in everything.

Actually, single mothers or absentee fathers is not a stereotype, it is a statistic:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/01/single-motherhood-increases-census-report_n_3195455.html
"The birthrate among single mothers also varied along educational, socioeconomic and racial barriers. Sixty-eight percent of black women who had given birth in the past year were unmarried, compared to 11 percent of Asian women, 43 percent of hispanics and 26 percent of non-Hispanic whites. Fifty-seven percent of recent mothers without a high school diploma were unmarried compared to nine percent of recent mothers with a bachelors degree or higher. Sixty-nine percent of recent mothers who came from households with incomes with $10,000"

and some people see thinly veiled attempts at making blanket statements. you're not smart enough to fool me and i'd be more likely to believe your shirly temple "who ME?" innocent act if you didn't have a history of making disparaging remarks about brown people, i remember your remarks about those 'evil evil evil blacks' in a discussion about prop 8.

why don't you explain those statistics and trends Professor? oh wait you probably can't cuz us overly sensitive librul minorities who hate accountability will just nail you to the cross for your objective, non-biased, fact-based criticism right?

Nope, I didn't say they we're evil. But I do think that they will surely go to heaven for overwhelmingly vote for prop 8 haha. God bless you.

overwhelmingly? blacks aren't the majority in cali or anywhere in the US, they couldn't have done it without the explicit help of whites who are suspiciously exempt from crticism about anti-lgbt laws even though A) they've been running the country since forever B) every single anti-lgbt law on the books could not have made it there without white america C) wypipo have been campaigning against LGBT for at least the past century (see the 1950s infomercials warning parents to guard their children from those evil homosexuals) and D) i can't speak for you but EVERY pro-prop 8 propogranda i saw was bought and paid for by white organizations like the mormon church E) homosexuality was categorized as a form of mental illness by the psychological community which i'm doubting is run by my melaninated brothers and sisters.

but i digress. like i said, you're not smart enough to do this with me.

Sorry, I've been saying all of Zombiekiller's threads have been bait threads for the last year. That or plain "look at me I need attention" threads.

Edit: Cue the obligatory "Four Musketeer" comment from Zombie. I was wondering who the fourth was. It must be Karen. At least we're all good company.

Nah, I'd disagree with that bit. I dunno that he was baiting in the original post despite his contributing content - using baiting as a main action instead of a byline, as I think there were racial assumptions shown that he's aware of, as he's posted such things before, albeit considerably more blatant. Though I do think 'insinuations' came to the fore in his attempt at thread creation. He does post actual content and opinion beyond everyone's occasional "All about me" writings.

Hell, why don't you explain them? I am not black, how the hell should I know? Tell us why 68% of black women who had given birth were unmarried. Why only 11% of Asian women fell into the same category.
All I know is that I hear "stereotype" when it's a stat.

Or you could research cultural differences on who's subservient to who and how. Start with 'maggots in the rice' and go from there, branching out by country and historical intersection. Spread out, learn sumthin'. Take initiative!

There a reason why you gave a statistic with no link and explained none of the information that it's compiled from when you give a dissenting opinion while demanding others do differently? Frustration doesn't mean you don't do the work, it means you take a small break and come back to it whole-heartedly later.

And how are you expecting to be fed bite-sized chunks of someone else's research effort on so large a topic? The end result of all that writing generally involves people going 'round to disparate threads and sniping at the giver of information later. If you want to discuss or argue with someone I've found it always means researching their info on your own time. And dime, as the case may be if your library sucks or is inaccessible. It's not as if the answer to your question doesn't take up volumes and volumes of literature ranging from history to cultural mythos to current events.

Here's how this shit generally works - people give links and explain, other people who don't have the experience or even the basics of cultural differences down complain that the info they didn't have in the first place is somehow faulty, a bit of snark goes on, rinse and repeat. Maybe add some fabric softener.

Tho Karen zoomed right to the snark. On this one I can understand why, you need a rather large dose of information and you're demanding it in throwaway (i.e.;small, as this is a message board and the platform controls how the content is expressed) post format.

Hell, why don't you explain them? I am not black, how the hell should I know?

if you don't understand the history of black families in america my only suggestion is to go back to kindergarten and start all over from scratch. maybe this time something will stick.

^It's just not doable, or fair, to demand someone else do your own cultural research to get a grasp on the statistic you brought up.

I do have a bit to point out on single-parent households. People love to hark back to halcyon days back when the white divorce rate was low and all the information said was men weren't responsible for their own sexual actions. It wasn't low because they loved each other dearly; it was low because women were in no internal or external position to leave. That's a similarity that crosses cultural lines to go with the general villification o'black guys in particular.

And, well, culture. Every culture puts some things on a pedestal to the detriment of all in a group. 'Family first' as an example. A good idea taken considerably to far by limiting choice via public opinion, and then law.

I must say, it is rather amusing to see someone else as a victim of social justice warrior trolls for once. Not fun is it? The stats speak for themselves, and yet they can string together word salad to "refute" your hard numbers.
