WTAF????

It is unclear how the child obtained the gun, but Mr Drew said the incident was not "an accidental shooting".

Six years old. I bet the next one will be even younger.

It's clearly time to arm the teachers so they can protect themselves from their elementary school students.

The age is but a headline.

There is literally nothing more shocking about a 6-yr.-old getting access to a gun than a 12-yr.-old.

What is shocking is that a 6-yr.-old would think that his rights and power trump an adult's, and more importantly, an authority figure who legally has locus parentis.

If I remember, only one of my classmates in the first grade had the ego to assert this sort of vicious anger, and his father was a successful car dealer.

It reveals that the child has been raised to feel empowered, and to exert his self-determination through violent means.

Entitlement is poison, and not just in parenting.

I wonder if we'll ever learn the race of the child, so we can appropriately condemn white privilege or dismiss it as a result of an underserved minority.

/\ The article is nothing more than the headline.

It's as though we've been handed a 'paint by number' with no paint in the box.

That would be because juvenile criminal disclosure is extremely controlled. Even when news bureaus learn the identity of the boy via deduction or revelation by those involved, they cannot publish his identity. Juvenile criminal records are sealed and cannot even be carried forward after an offender reaches his majority.

He is too young for any state to allow him to be tried as an adult, so he'll be whisked away to a mental hospital or a juvenile prison until he's 18 or 21.

It'll quickly become a non-story since they cannot keep it alive for months in the press, like the Idaho collegiate killings. Pity the media.

I will not shoot my teacher.
I will not shoot my teacher.
I will not shoot my teacher.
I will not shoot my teacher.

I will not shoot my teacher.
I will not shoot my teacher.

Far easier to have metal detectors at every entrance, like airport scanners

Until the idiots in the NRA lose all their influence and governments are allowed to severely restrict who can hold a gun this will go on and on

Maybe blame some criminals on the street, too. Fear of crime, and frustration at police shrugging at theft, is a significant motivator for large numbers of gun-buying folks.

Twice my home in Albuquerque had doors kicked in and thieves entered, and neither time did the police even attempt to investigate at all. Didn't bother to check for fingerprints or anything. Just not on their radar.

I have never owned or possessed a gun, but I certainly undertand why some people feel they have no protection allegedly provided by law enforcement.

I wonder which member of a well regulated militia provided a six-year-old child with a gun?

If the kid were black and the teacher white, the kid would be dead by now.
Thank heavens the facts are being kept out of the press so there can be endless speculation with the bias of one's choice.

Gonna be a great year for it.
