This is for all those people who think a robot in space is a waste of money and time. Or just have no idea what NASA has done and accomplished that benefits us today.

These bastards are going to make me start stanning for them :dead:

I read what they did since they started and it's great.

What have you done for me lately Nasa besides waste $2.5 billion to take robotic tourist pictures of Mars.

"'Invisible' braces"

They should of made those quicker. I couldn't look at anybody in the face in Middle School without a glare

Your fuckin crazy. I looked like a dorky ADONIS with my medal mouth. Why would anyone want them, or even pay extra for the ones that are placed behind the teeth. Fuck that.

You are basically agreeing with me but calling me crazy. I don't understand what's going on :dead:

Ok here you go just a few scratch resistant lenses, Cat Scanner, Computer Microchip, Cordless tools, Freeze dried food, Joy Stick, And the list goes on Smoke Detector. Not to say someone else eventually would have but your on here because of the microchip DUHHH

^ Nasa needs to invent basic comprehension asap.

Ahhhh and thus you miss the point of this thread. The mars rover isn't a waste of money. Some of the technology we use today came out of necessities NASA needed for space exploration and comfortably and survivability in space. But like the article pointed out where I got the link. People are too concerned about what have they done for me right now to see what these solutions and inventions will do for them in the future.

It's sad really.

What a stupid and ignorant thread. The current NASA budget is 18.5 billion which only accounts for 0.5 percent of our national budget.
What has NASA done for our civilization? You enjoy modern technology because thousands of unnamed engineers and scientists worked tirelessly to make it happen. Most people dont even understand the way their computers and phones work but are quick to say that scientific and engineering organizations like NASA are wasting money.

.
It is difficult, if not impossible to put a price tag on research. On the other hand, currently we are spending $2 billion per week in Afghanastan and for what?

I can hear it now. "What good is that idiot Columbus doing wasting all that money looking for a short cut to the far east so we can obtain spices. I hope he doesn't fall off the edge!"

Here I was thinking I'd have to come to their assistance and defend them, but it seems this thread was already doing that. Kudos, it's a very interesting site.
