wuh oh... Kavanaugh is a #metoo

From MSNBC just now... Jeff Flake will be a yes vote tomorrow. It falls on Susan Collin's 3pm announcement as well as Joe Manchin's vote tomorrow.

Lisa Murkowski was the only one of the group of 4 to oppose the bringing forth of the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the full Senate. Susan Collins did but will announce her ultimate vote on confirming Brett Kavanaugh at 3pm today.

The gang of four can be counted on to vote the way their owners want them to vote. Manchin is s dirty as they come, so he also will be looking for protection on Gamble v. US.

Collins and Murkowski somehow get away with pretending they are on the fence again and again, but they are two, feckless, self serving hacks as well who know that to vote against what the men want will effectively end their career.

And Flake was only ever looking for cover.

Murkowski voted no to sending the vote to the floor. I'm not going to like Susan Collins voting yes if she does, but she's no hack. There are rightward pressures even in Maine(their infamous governor Paul le Page is an erratic, nutty Trump Republican)Just would be woefully wrong on this one. May face a more Trump-ian challenge from the right in 2006. Manchin is very self serving, but West Virginia is trending more and more conservative... at least receptive to the faux populism of Trump Republicanism. Murkowski has been the toughest of all.... she lost the Republican nomination in 2010 to Joe Miller a right wing Republican and won an independent candidacy. She won more comfortably as a Republican in 2016 against Miller who identified with Trump. So let's not get too personal here. The last thing we need is further polarization as it's bad enough the parties are both moving rhetorically as well as politically to their most charged, hardest line edges. A country with no center (and I'm usually left of center) cannot hold. I want Kavanaugh defeated, but I draw the line at completely tearing up everything that can hold us together and keep us grounded when at this time we really need it the most. Because we are really one deep crisis away from perhaps irreparably coming apart.

I have stated a number of times I don't think America is truly "great" but I do believe in what America at its best can be. I don't want to give up on that dream. Because the alternative is an unending nightmare.

If any of these Senators are replaced by a conservative Republican, instead of being disappointed by some votes against what we believe is in America's best interests, we'll likely get nada on everything. So keep emotions in check for a bit.... and keep our eyes on the prize for Democrats in 2018 and 2020.

FUCK!!

That partisan asshole is going to be on the Supreme Court... for life. :grrr:

I hate republicans so much!

I am with you here. We have to find another way to hang on to that greatness. America governance has been a series of disappointments since the Vietnam War. Bill Clinton was the only blip of respite.

He's the last Democrat in a state that voted for Trump over Clinton by 20 points. He's up for re-election and saving his seat is more important than principle.

Murkowski is more liberal than she lets on and she has a lot of Native Alaskans that she depends on for votes. She also has a bone to pick because she was primaried as a Republican and had to win by write-in vote in 2010. The real question is why, since she has a J.D., is she not on the Judiciary Committee... oh, I forgot.... she has a vagina and she's pro-choice.

And Flake was only ever looking for cover.
Flake is a man of principal who makes speeches and then votes party line. He was the same way when he was in the House. There was a possibility that, because he's leaving in January and has nothing to lose, he would vote his conscience and say, "No, we can find someone better" but old habits die hard.

There's a reason that "Profiles in Courage" was only a one volume book.

I'm waiting on buyers' remorse from everybody who sat at home on election day with their arms folded across their chests cuz they didn't get Bernie. And now we get to pay for it for the rest of Kavanaugh's sorry life. But woah, at least we didn't have to deal with those emails amIright?

This constant parade of "40 years ago he maybe assaulted me and here I am because he's a republican" has really gotten old.

And now the polls are starting to tilt away from Democrats again...because of those old white Republican men who WANT to put a perjury-prone and probable former sexual predator onto the Supreme Court are becoming more and more Trumpefied.

Priests, Bill Cosby, etc. are fair game (with zero tolerance even if it had been only ONE victim involved), but this guy gets a pass with a totally bogus FBI report.

What the FUCK is wrong with this country? I'm ashamed and embarrassed that I'm an American.

well then move to Iran and send us a selfie

BREAKING: Christine Blasey Ford has no further plans to pursue her sexual misconduct allegations against Brett Kavanaugh, according to her attorneys - ABC
Well so much for it all being about justice.

That's not how the Criminal Justice system works. The State decides whether to pursue criminal charges. And Maryland has no statute of limitations for sex crimes.
