Since much of their government agrees with their president, who considers Jews to be subhuman trash who pollute the earth with their presence, it isn't over-the-top at all.

Who in the Iranian government thinks this outside of the president of Iran? Secondly, it doesn't matter even what the Iranian president thinks or says since he is nothing more than an impotent figurehead. He has no power at all. He only has the power the religious order that Ali Khamenei heads gives him, and tells him to do.

Additionally, as Rareboy pointed out, Israel is armed to the teeth with both nukes and conventional weapons. If Iran ever struck Israel with a nuke (which will never happen) the retaliation of Israel and the USA would make Iran nothing but a sheet of glass.

Please provide cites for this. Additionally, even if that were the case, why do you think that might be, hmmmm? By dropping Iran into civil war and taking Iranian crude oil off the market means those small country's oil almost literally becomes more valuable than gold. Oil would triple in price overnight. The remaining oil exporting countries would be like you or I winning the Powerball Lottery.

Since that same defense minister is on record elsewhere as agreeing with Ahmadinejad, he's saying that no matter what Israel does, its existence will be in danger from Iran.

Instead of eliminating the next hundred nukes required by treaty, the U.S. hands them over to Israel.

Well, maybe not. Wait till Iran actually has a nuke, then hand Israel three. Every new nuke Iran gets, give Israel three more.
