-A civil unions bill in the state is expected to pass. The governor has indicated he is leaning towards signing it.

Jodi Bell of Connecticut signed a civil unions bill into law in 2005. Schwarzenegger signed many domestic partnership expansions.

It was done in Connecticut by Republican governor Jodi Rell. Gay marriage is legal here, she signed the bill in 2009.

But seriously, the constitutional amendment won't pass in the House. In 2009 it failed 35-25 (that's 35 AGAINST the amendment too). No way will it reach 40 votes, considering too that the ban on recognition of outside gay marriages only passed by 32 votes.
