X-Men 3 - The Last Stand

I absolutely LOVED this movie, and was literally counting down the days until it came out on DVD. I've been obsessed with the X-Men since my teenage years, and has yet to subside.

Yeah, I think that they could've done something cooler with Jean as the Phoenix, but I thought they did a good job, especially with the special effects. My FAVORITE part was when Magneto was standing in the road and just started squishing cars and throwing them to the side - I was like :O when I saw it in the theaters!!

X2 is my fav in the series, but I thought X3 had some excellent parts as well. I actually love them all!! I want to be a mutant!! :gogirl:

Never say never about Stewart...A nifty loop-hole is that Xavier is strong enough to mentally make people believe they are seeing how he used to look.

Perhaps they'll go ala Age of Apocalyspe for the forth one...Magento realizing the error of his ways, and regaining his power, takes Xavier's spot at the school training the X-Men.

Could be fun...

Of course, I will boycot a X4 movie without Ian McKellen....

Unless they throw in Mr. Sinister or Apocalyspe as the main villain.

As much as I love Mr. Sinister...( he is my all time favorite x-men villian) they could never put him in an x-men movie...
why? you may ask... well In the first movie they made Magneto too much like him.. it would be redundant...
Magneto wants to rule mutants and feels humans are below his concern eventually going to be wiped out by evolution...
Mr. Sinister would have created the device that magneto used just to see what would happen because all humans and mutants are to him is genetic toys there for him to play with...

Perhaps...Perhaps not.

Sinister would focus more on torturing the X-Men, by kidnapping students and mutating them to a higher degree.

I've never seen Sinister work on humans, but I could be wrong.

Also, it would allow a way for Jean and Scott to come back....Sinister some how gets into the Xavier School and finds an old hairbrush...

Wham, boom...Jean and Cyclops back.

Sure it's preposturous, but it is a movie...

I just think that X3 stinks of the studio getting bored with the franchise and trying to wrap everything up with The Last Stand and I didn't think it worked very well. Especially what they did to Prof. X and Cyclops, and then when you watch to the end of the credits they don't even commit to the story they've spent nearly 2 hours showing you. Plus the whole thing about the cure not 'quite' being a cure - again shows how non-commited they were to the story. I mean whats the point in leaving the film open for another sequel if you're just going to rush through a movie and think great special effects and some new/favourite characters are going to appease moviegoers/fans.

I did like the film, it just pales in comparison to the previous films which are such great films which happen to be blockbusters whilst X3 is just another blockbuster. No wonder Bryan Singer left to do Superman Returns!

...what? Bryan Singer leaving is probably the main reason why this movie wasn't as good plot-wise to the others! He was a major writer in the first two and when he left, he took two of the other writers with him onto Superman, leaving the rest to write the mediocre script used in the movie!

If you're going to complain about the script (with some good reason) then you have to take Bryan Singer's departure into account when considering all the reasons why the plot wasn't that good.

I'll always admit that the stories were more interesting in X1 and X2, but they were actually about as boring action-wise as Superman was. No exceptional deeds or uses of powers, just ho-hum stuff. X3 got the adrenaline pumping.

I was talking to a friend about Halle Berry recently and he said that she'll probably sign back on for an X4 film now that the writers have given her what she wants. His perspective was that Halle Berry had read about Storm and read character reviews and realized that Storm is hardly as much of a strong, passionate, leader as well as motherly figure in the first two movies as she is characterized in the comics. Storm's bitchin' strong and technically second in command and since Berry saw none of that in her character, she said that she would leave unless the movie character was written the same way as in the comics.

That being said, my friend thinks that if she doesn't sign on, Angella Basset should be the next Storm, though I'm also voting for Gina Torres.

JUST PLAIN NO TO ANGELA BASSET... I love her, she's a phenomenal actress but she's not Storm.. first off she's waay too old.. second she doesnt have the stautuesque properties that Storm has... granted neither did Halle but Ms Basset is not Ororo.

Honestly... and this is going to be sounding extremely strange... but, if he were a woman... Rupaul would be a better Storm.

someone on here sad the ,"they dumbed down rogues powers" but actually rogue never had those powers till she touched miss marvel and put her into a coma. before that she could only hold powers for a short time like in the movie.

But Xavier can not be in the next movie as a telepath. He moved into a comatose man, and even if the man was a mutant, the chances that he's a telepath are slim (and if he was, it'd be lame) and the chances that he's as physically proficient of a telepath (training and skill are one thing, but you also have to have the mind--see M's low level telepathy) are even slimmer.

In the commentary they talk about him moving into his twin brothers body, who was born lacking brain functions, due to Xaviers heightened ones.

Okay, but they never explained who this man was and that he was Xavier's twin...which would almost be a parallel to the Cassandra Nova story arc, though Cassandra is formless, evil, and a woman.

But if they ever tried to bring him back without ever having explained his 'twin' in the previous movies, it'd be one of the lamest plot devices ever.

Yeah, I kinda love when people have no knowledge of these things speak... on comics, politics, or anything else...

/\ well not all of us have 100% of the background on stuff. I used to watch x-men the cartoons and Rogue always had those powers, so i didn't know she got them from miss marvel either.

They broach the topic once in the cartoon, where the Ms. Marvel consciousness tries tos urface and take over Rogue's mind. With the help of Jean Grey, they manage to seal Carol's consciousness into a metaphorical prison cell and Rogue visits the still comatose Carol Denvers (under the name of Jane Doe in the hospital) and gives her flowers.
