X-Men 3 - The Last Stand

I was really disappointed with this movie. I was so bored in the theaters, I actually thought a bee hovering above Logan, during the scene where he was kneeling in front of Xavier's tomb, was a mutant. I was waiting for it to turn into Mystique or something.

I really hated the fact that the plot of the movie was about the 'cure' and they barely put Rogue in the movie. The only mutant who actually wanted it.

angel was so hott.

he can fly me away anyday.

I hated the movie. YES Hated! I feel that strongly about it!!!

Mystique is by far the coolest character in the history of the universe!! How the fuck do you get rid of her just like that?!?! Urgh. That pissed me off. I also think Halle went a little too far with her role. Her lines are so cliché, I could vomit. Well, I guess I'd blame the writers for her lines, not Halle...whatever. Magneto is the only reason worth watching. Everyone else can die.

X3 was a great action movie...its intent was to be more of a popcorn movie than anything else. It even had a little bit of comedy...

All the deleted scenes should have been included in the movie....I don't know what the hell Brett Ratner was thinking.

Having just watched the movie for the 2nd time and 1st time on DVD, I liked it a lot more on my 2nd viewing. I'm not even going to begin complaining about comic cannon because then I'll have to start with the 1st movie and then we'll be here all day. But yes the 2nd was quite a bit better, and I think Bryan should have stayed on X-men, especially since I felt Superman Returns was disappointing.

It was definitly a bad choice in the director. He seemed more interested in action sequences then story and character development. One of those directors who would rather blow something up then help the watchers get close to the characters.

Well that is the reason I liked it more than the other 2....X3 had alot more action..

X-1 bored the hell out of me. X2 was alright(better than the first)...but X3 was much better IMO

i agree...

as far as x3 goes... i didn't like the story but i also read the comics... it was a good movie... save for the storyline inaccuracy... people just need to remember that its like reading a book before the movie... if you read the book your gonna know whats really goin on... so thats how i feel towards all comic book turned movies...

In case you guys didn't hear, while some discs (Region 1) have the 10 deleted scenes and three alternate endings (though I've heard they're just three added scenes that in total give a different ending to the movie), other random discs have 21 deleted scenes, which were apparently supposed to be on a special edition re-release of X3 next year. So if your disc doesn't have the 21 scenes on it, you can return it and get another, though since the discs are random, you may or may not get the fuller one.

The movie version of course had a lot problems...

All of them did.

The "dumbing" down of powers for certain characters.

A perfect example of this is Rouge and Magneto.

Granted, it's hard to set up how to give a girl from Mississippi the power to fly and super human strength.

But Magneto was dumbed down with no real explination.

They took him from "The Master of Magnetism" to "The Master of Metal".

He could no longer manipulate magentic waves to form a protective shield around himself...Or contain others under one.

He couldn't project these waves in a flowing force powerful enough to knock someone down and out.

But that's the problems with most movies...Character's lose aspects to make them more "realistic"....But in a movie with mutants....

JESUS... I can't believe that all of you had so many problems with this movie... ok as a fan of the comic for many...many.. years i have to say I was impressed with it... I mean they made Dark Phoenix seem much more plausible than getting a duplicate from outer space... DON'T GET ME WRONG.. the actual Dark Phoenix saga is one of the best comics series ever written.. but I felt they did an excellent job with the retelling of it...
I actually had more issues with the first movie than with the third... so many minor details made me go crazy in the first one..by the time the third one had come out I had resigned myself to the fact that this is a different media therefore a different aspect of the same story.. But wow.. the first one had me cringing.... Oh and if you wanna talk about bad dialogue..."what happens to a taod when it gets struck by lightning?" one of the worst lines in movie history....ugh

second...even with all the mutants they put into this one i felt that it gave the impression that there are way more than just magneto and the x-men... it gave better understanding to magneto's ultimate goals....

third ..and this goes back to the original poster... don't compare this to the comics or the cartoon from the 90's (which imho is the worst thing ever done to the x-men god what crappy animation) its not meant to be a duplicate of that.. the cartoon was extremely different from the comics...EXTREMELY... so you can't take 3 different mediums and compare them as all the same thing...

As far as I am concerned Brett Ratner did a fine job... even better than Bryan Singer...Bryans departure made me angry in so far as the fact that the X-Men has always been about embracing our differences and is a modern parable on our plights as gay people.. Bryan being gay himself should have had more stock in such an aspect but since he decided to helm Superman instead i feel his loss was our gain...
Same goes for that dipshit James Marsden...

honestly... anyone with any real connection to the x-men universe would surely have been pleased with this movie.. just for the little things alone....
finally having an X-men movie with all 5 originals in it
Kelsey Grammer was a FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC beast
Plus he said his catch phrase "oh my stars and garters"
Iceman turning to ice
Finally a Sentinel !!!!!!
a "days of future past" reference
Jean as Dark Phoenix
and just the cameos of all the other mutants ....
honestly this movie added what the others were lacking...
BUT
imho i liked part 2 better but part 3 was far better than the first one

i bought the 14.99 dvd today. i liked it enough to buy it. ;) And i've not been buying DVDs lately.

i agree there was a lot of dumbing down of the powers, but ...as said since it's a movie and you have to do stuff in the time frame you have...well some stuff gets let go. i liked the first and second movies best. i think they were about the same although i'd say the second was the best. this one was just not quiet as good as the first movie, but was still worth watching and worth buying. ;)

one question though. when i click on any of the alternate scenes and stuff it just goes back to the extra's menu. it doesn't play them. i managed to watch them by messing around with some other content, but does has anyone else had this problem?

i did not mind the movie....

but it was not the best like . X2.....

i wish they would not have killed off Cyclops or The Proff. how they did...as well, as Jean...hated that....

i do believe Bryan was the missing link as well, if he was on this it would have been the best we would have seen....

but oh well....

They can easily make a sequel. At the end you see Magneto starting to move a Chess peice with his powers (Cure did not work?), and Prof X transfered himself into the vegatable guy at the reserch center where Miora is.

/\ yeah they left themselves wide open for another one. ;)

stewart wont be in it, but prof x will, and i bet most of the other older x-men wont either. i think the next one will center around the younger x-men like bobby, rogue, kat etc. i would guess the "cure" was temporary and it's effects wear off. i mean that makes sense to me since the boys powers didn't permanently screw up the x gene, their powers came back.

It was better than the superman movie bryan singer left the x-men to do.i actually liked this film.it had a lot of surprises in it. i like when main characters get killed off right away cause than you know anything can happen. some people like a play it safe movie.as for scott or jean or whoever would'nt act that way or do this-hello it's a movie that is really not connected to the comic books! the ultimate books are different than the regular books. i think what's worse is all this emma stuff running through all x-books. thank god she was not in the movie like i heard she would be. she's a sad replacement for jean grey.

I absolutely loved this movie. It had nothing to do with accuracy to comic book characters, special effects, or character screen time. I came across an article which called it a "gay summer blockbuster" because of the storyline of the cure. I read this article before I saw the movie. Through that particular lens, it had deep affect on me as I watched it. I liked the other movies better as far as it just being a movie goes, but the implications of it, if you choose to go there, are very intriguing. If something has a "cure" then it is a defect. Wow.

Never say never about Stewart...A nifty loop-hole is that Xavier is strong enough to mentally make people believe they are seeing how he used to look.

Perhaps they'll go ala Age of Apocalyspe for the forth one...Magento realizing the error of his ways, and regaining his power, takes Xavier's spot at the school training the X-Men.

Could be fun...

Of course, I will boycot a X4 movie without Ian McKellen....

Unless they throw in Mr. Sinister or Apocalyspe as the main villain.

But Xavier can not be in the next movie as a telepath. He moved into a comatose man, and even if the man was a mutant, the chances that he's a telepath are slim (and if he was, it'd be lame) and the chances that he's as physically proficient of a telepath (training and skill are one thing, but you also have to have the mind--see M's low level telepathy) are even slimmer.

You can relate "the cure" to something like gay right and etc. Especially the civil right era...where this comic was actually created during that time. And I've read somewhere that is somewhat based on that struggle...

Xavier is more like MLK....while Magneto is totally like Malcolm X. I think I remember Magneto in one the films saying something familiar to what Malcolm X stated in the past.

GREAT movie though.. best one in the series. All the deleted scenes should be put back in the film....those scenes along make the movie 2 hours long.
