Okay, I'll be honest - I am an X-Men comic fan, but being that every Marvel comic has reinvented itself or changed stories that have come before for their own purposes...I'm not that offended by the changes in story to fit the movie.

I saw it and actually really liked it. I think it had a very unique quality to it and Fassbender/McAvoy made an excellent team. (Not going to lie, totally shipping ProfX/Magneto after watching those two prance around the whole movie all sexy-like in their tight 60s pants.)

The one major MAJOR complaint I have about the film is the miscasting of Emma Frost. January Jones just looked blank the whole time. And no matter what Emma Frost is feeling outwardly, there is always more going on in her head. And in this movie, she just looked stupid. It was a severe miscast, in my opinion, especially for those of us who have been waiting a long time to see Emma on the big screen. (She was originally supposed to be in X3, but was written out in one of the last script revisions.)

I think, and you guys can hate me for this, but I really think that Kate Hudson would have made a great Emma. Non-preggo, that is. She can pull off the bitchy, frosty exterior, has the necessary sex appeal, and I think she would have teamed well with Kevin Bacon, whose casting as Shaw I was initially unsure of but he proved to do a pretty decent job.

Yeah, he's a beauty. IIRC from the (70s) comic books, Havoc couldn't control his buildup of energy; eventually he had to release it or die, and it caused massive destruction when he did. He could aim the release, but not suppress it (eventually).

Again, dim memories from the 1970s, but I THINK he eventually died in a Heroic Sacrifice™ where he just let the Cosmic Ray Energy™ build up until he exploded, destroying something that would have Ended The World™.

But I could be wrong. And at any rate I'm reasonably sure they've rebooted their universe at least once or twice since then.

I hate katehudson.. hate her in everything ahah...

I cant think of a good casting choice though.. i vaguely thought of scarjo but i dont know if she would have been able to do bitchy and cold.. Gwenyth Paltrow perhaps?

I had a thought on this too... I like January Jones... but given the choice, I'd have cast Tilda Swinton as Emma Frost! Imagine the possibilities!!!!

That would be too close to her role as Jadis, The White Witch from the Narnia movies. I think people would have an issue with her playing The White Witch in one movie and The White Queen in another.

I was counting on the different demographics targeted by the films and hoping no one would take an issue - especially if Tilda does a great job - which she invariably does.

:D

It could work if she is good enough to make people forget about her as an actress and only think about her has the character. I’ve only ever seen her in the Narnia movies so I don’t know if she could do that for me. I’m hard to please though.

I think some of the more annoying fanboys would winge that she isn't attractive enough. Some people even complain that January wasn't attractive enough!#-o

My favourite is Rosamund Pike. She can play icy, she can act and she's a lovely person (but who can play a bitch, which is important for Emma). Also, I could see a great actress like Rosamund being able to show Emma's leadership and as we saw in "Made in Dagenham" she can really fit into the era well.

Yes, I hadn't even thought of Rosamund Pike. How brilliant is she?! I loved her role in Dagenham, especially *SPOILER* when she told off her arse of a husband. Completely off topic, but I am also a HUGE fan of Sally Hawkins, not that she'd be a good fit for an Xmen film!

Also, if you've not seen it, catch Rosamund Pike in An Education, another wonderful role.

I saw it last night and loved it. I had also liked the other 4 movies, but i now put this new one on par with Xmen 1 and 2. I`ll have to give it more time to figure out where it fits in my rankings, but it`s right up there. ..|

I heard that ratings weren`t very good, let`s hope that all the reviews will get people out to see the movie.. because most reviews i`ve read have been very good.

It was indeed very good. My only complaint is that there was not a better line up of characters...

I will certainly do that. I love Rosamund. She was very good in Pride and Prejudice as well.

No to Kate Hudson and hell no to Tilda Swinton. A lot disagree about January's performance but I honestly can't see Emma any other way. She wasn't a major character in this film, which was why I think we expect more from her. I think she did a fantastic job introducing Emma Frost to the big screen to those who did not know of her before the movie. Not trying to spoil it for others but obviously Emma will be in the sequel and I know January will do a flawless job.

Edit: The only thing I didn't agree on with Emma in the movie, which wasn't January's fault, were her outfits which came off very costume looking. I thought they could've done a more modern take, like what they've done with Jean & Storm's hair in X2/X3 but somewhere in the 60's fashion as the film was set in that time. Jackie O Kennedy would be the best to reference from.
