Life has gotten more boring for me living in this desolate desert town, so I am taking the plunge into console gaming.

Which system do you prefer and why? I am looking for gaming content and your personal user experience.

If you have used both, that is even better, Could you break down the pros and cons of each?

I am partial to Xbox, but PS3 is cheaper, but I dont want to get something I will end up disliking.

PS3 is soooo much superior it's ridiculous (Fanboy here)

Home
PSN
More content
Better games
Blue Ray
Better games
Lots of update

Cons?
None that I can recall

I've had my first gen ps3 every since.
It is quite sturdy.

See, I want to steer you in the Xbox 360 direction, but that's only because most of my friends have it, I don't really use the online experience as a basis, I'm partial to fighting games but they're also on PS3, and i've no real reason to "hate" the PS3.

My ONLY suggestion... if you get a ps3, look for a backwards compatible one. That's the only "superior" one.

Years ago I would of said 360 for the exclusives. But not so much anymore. They have have gone the Kinect route and seem to be focusing on next gen more. So my vote goes for PS3. It has some killer exclusives from first party not to mention all the third party stuff.

If you need some friends on your list, hit me up, I am always on PS3.

I never play video games anymore. I played Call of Duty and GTA4,

At THAT time, Xbox was winning the race. But PS3 has caught up from my casual viewing

In important purchases, you shouldnt sckrimp (sp) because one is cheaper than the other. I learned thaat lesson from Mr. brady. he told bobby "cavaet emptor" (or whatever the saying is)

Let the buyer beware . You get what you pay for

For the record, Xbox Live is $59 a year (last time I looked).

Is PS3 free regarding online play?

My vote: Xbox360

Yes it is:D:D

Reckon I am all about the PC master race but even though I don't own one, I would go with a PS3 over a 360 if online is not a factor for you. Pretty much all my friends when I play online that isn't a PC, it is on xbox live.

Co-sign on Xbox live.

I have an Xbox 360 which I love. I wouldn't mind playing "The Last of Us" though which is unfortunatly PS3 exclusive.

Difficult to say, really. PS3 has rechargable wireless controllers and PS1 games at the marketplace. It offers no backward compatibility though, which is a giant con if you were a keen PS2 gamer. Xbox offers full backward compatibility. Most of games released on Xbox are FPS', war or generally action games, which is good only if you're a fan. Xbox also can't play blu-ray, while PS3 can.

I say PS3.

Ps3 has more varied exclusives and free online service. And pretty much a lot of similar features like xbox maybe some lagging like the download speed of things but since its free is forgiveable.

Go for Ps3

PS3 is the better system, has better exclusives (IMO), and you get a free Blu-Ray player and free access to PSN.

HOWEVER, Microsoft has ungodly amounts of money and they shell that out to many developers so that multiplatform games are often made for 360 first and adapted for PS3, which is why they often look better and have fewer glitches on the 360 despite the PS3 being the more powerful machine. Also, the 360 gets DLC earlier for many games.

I don't own either, unfortunately, but it's things like this that make me wary of buying an XBOX 360. To be fair though, some games are exclusive to XBOX 360, so you should look into what games you want to play and what system they are on.

I am sure the xbox is awesome too, but I love my PS3. The games are spectacular, Netflix, automatic updates for many of the games, brilliant graphics, 24 hour support line, bluray ready and lots of memory too.

PS3s are amazing! Sony knocked it out of the park with this machine.

A 160 GB PS3 costs $249 and the 320 GB is $299.
A 4 GB XBOX costs $199 and the 250 GB is $299.

PS3 controllers have built in rechargable batteries.
XBOX controllers need 2 AA batteries (recharge packs sold separately)

PS3 has a built in Blu-Ray player
XBOX had a HD DVD player sold separately and has been discontinued due to HD DVDs going the way of BetaMax.

Online play on PS3 is free
Online play on XBOX is $60 a year (but the foulmouthed preteens calling you a "n****r f****t" is included for free)

The only exclusive titles on XBOX are Halo, Gears of War and Fable.
The exclusives on PS3 are Uncharted, inFamous, God of War, KillZone, LittleBigPlanet, Metal Gear Solid 4, Ratchet & Clank, Resistance, SOCOM, Tekken, White Knight Chronicles and Yakuza.

A little correction.

Xbox360 has those you mentioned also have Kameo, Project Gotham Racing, Tekken is also on xbox 360 so not Ps3 exclusive, Forza Motorsport, Viva Piñana, Banjo Kazooie and some more.

Games performance wise tend to have always a bit of edge towards xbox having less framerate issues and texture issues (Xbox is easier to develop for)

I might have given my vote to Ps3 but there are things that need to be cleared.

You're right on Tekken. My error.

However, I only mentioned exclusives that weren't "one-shot" properties like Kameo, but rather games that come in a series like Halo and God of War. Listing all the one-off exclusives for both systems would be a pointless pain in the ass.

Banjo isnt really a oneshot if you count the 64 games, Project Gotham and Forza have more than 1 game, Viva Piñata has more than 1 game. Kameo is probably the one shot game.

Just saying

Forgot about Banjo. Didn't realize there was more than one Viva Pinata game. Not into racing games, so I didn't remember PGR or Forza (or GTA 5, a PS3 exclusive)
