Xbox Help needed: Red rings of death

The best way is to just send it to MS and have them fix it, just like all the other 54.2% of 360 owners had to.

Near the end of May my 360 got the RRoD as well. Now mine wasn't under warranty anymore (was like 2 months too late...) so I was pretty ticked. I did the towel trick and it worked for a couple days... then it did RRoD again, did the towel trick again only worked for a day and it did it again. What I found out was it only got RRoD when I turned it off, so what I did was did the towel trick and left it on. Whenever I wasn't playing it I just left it on the dashboard. Left it like that throughout most of the month of June and never had a problem again. I got a new xbox anyways just because I figured it would crap out on me again sometime so I put my RRoD xbox in my closet... the other day I decided to test it for kicks and it still works, I feel like I wasted $200 on a new xbox -_-...

Sorry for the rant I tend to do that. If you are under warranty just send it in. If you aren't try what I did (Towel Trick then leave it on but at dashboard whenever you're not playing it).

Good luck!

^ i would contact microsoft if i were you. about 9 months back my brother's xbox crapped out, red ring of death as well. at that time my brother's warranty had long since expired but apparently ms had extended the original warranty to something like 3 years from the date of purchase. i think it will be well worth the effort before you turn around and put money on a new unit.

edit:

i went to the xbox website and found this under warranty for new products:

One Year Express Warranty on Console (Three Years for Three Lights Flashing Red). Subject to the terms and conditions of this Limited Warranty, Microsoft warrants to you only (the original retail purchaser) that, during the Warranty Period and under normal use and service, the Xbox Console will substantially conform with the printed user instruction materials packaged with the Console.

you can read the warranty for yourself here:

http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/xbox360/hardware/warranty/warranty/ProductWarrantyNew.aspx

as your hardware is a little over a year old it would fall right in line with the coverage! :)

^ i don't believe you'll have any compatibility issues as far as i know.

my brother thought of doing the same but as it turned out the only expense he incurred was the cost of shipping the hardware back to ms.

and you're welcome btw. :)

Doesn't the Arcade version not have a hard drive and no HDMI? I was thinking of getting a 360 but after hearing all the issues people have with it including the new Elite I will probably stick to my Wii and PS3.
