hi guys,
in my old computer, yahoo site works fine so i can read emails and stuff.

But in my other computer, the Yahoo site doesn't work, sometimes it works but NOT working is much greater than working.

Why is this so?
Why is yahoo site works really well in one computer and doesn't work well in other computer?

How are we supposed to help you, if you are so vague.
Thats like saying, my first car works ,but my second car doesn't work, what's wrong?
Just a pointer....

What browser are you using on your second, is it JUST yahoo site that isn't working during those occasions, tried others when yahoo doesn't work.
Is it yahoo.com or.. like yahoo.se

Some kid from called David from Tennessee is probably hacking your emails trying to find out
(a)what jokes you are sending to John McCain
(b) what recipes you are sharing with the rich ageing blonde .

i'm using Firefox 3.0.1 , both pc using windows xp.

i have the suspicion that windows in one pc is blocking stuff because sometimes it works but really slow !!!

mainly yahoo site but a few other sites as well that doesn't work properly or very slow.

Quote when it doesn't work:
Network Timeout
The server at au.yahoo.com is taking too long to respond.
The requested site did not respond to a connection request and the browser has stopped waiting for a reply.

* Could the server be experiencing high demand or a temporary outage? Try again later.
* Are you unable to browse other sites? Check the computer's network connection.
* Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.
* Still having trouble? Consult your network administrator or Internet provider for assistance.

*the older computer works fine.

hi noelie,

Yahoo uk & Ireland works fine.

but yahoo US & au doesn't work. something must be blocking those two.

Did you disable IPv6 like I said?

If you did and it's only those two sites (or .com/.us/.au sites) then you may have a routing or DNS problem.

You could try Treewalk DNS - it's an app you install on an XP PC that basically runs a DNS server on your local PC. I've used it in the past with great results.

is IPv6 = internet explorer version6 ?
Didn't see any IPv6 in Firefox.

just installed Treewalk DNS and the computer said its a virus, so have to un-install Treewalk.

Firefox 3.0.1 is new so i don't think Treewalk would help.
Might have to use yahoo UK for now. I hope it doesn't block yahoo UK and spread. I'm happy yahoo UK still works.

Is this considered going thro the backdoor of yahoo? since i always go to yahoo.com or yahoo.com.au

Disable IPv6 in FF.

Type this in the address bar:

about:config

and press enter.

Say okay to the message about being careful - click in the text box at the top that says filter.

type in

ipv6

you should only see

network.dns.disableIPv6

Double click it, and value should turn to "true" and the line become bold.

Restart Firefox.

hey noelie,
Disable IPv6 in FF doesn't work but after Treewalk installed it works. :) many thanks. (*8*)

so "routing or DNS problem" is caused by modem software or windows ?
