Foley sent sexually suggestive e-mails and instand messages to teenage boys. I'm happy to leave you to parse how much better that is than actually making out with them.

One reason why people "could only see the R after his name" was because the Repblican leaders were negligent in following up on the initial warnings and were inconsistent in what they said about the scandal.

Another reason was the absurdity of a party touting family values and rigid morality for others turning a blind eye to this kind of behavior in their midst.

Obviously, sexual scandal is and should be more an issue for a party running on a platform of sexual abstinence and only-in-marriage sexuality. There's the added ingredient of hypocrisy.
