So, I read that article and a couple more I found.

It appears that they are only recognizing/registering same sex marriages that were performed in other countries, for now, and this is likely to be appealed.
 
I knew it wasn't fully good news . This country is very backwards guys ... For real same sex legal unions to happen here it would take several years ... There are ultra religious political associations both in the righty and lefty sides ... There's even a movement called " Don't mess up with our children " They are very radical and even push public schools not to teach students about sexuality , they think that it's the right of every family , to teach children about sex in the privacy of their own homes , that the schools shouldn't stick their nose on sexual education ( Furthermore , they're very homophobic ) ... I always watch the national news here and nobody has yet mentioned about these news .
On the other hand another aspect that is neglected here is Teachers , my mom has been one for over 30 years and she would retire within 16 months , but there's uncertainty whether she'll receive a retirement monthly pension ... There are projects to make the pension happen , but it's uncertain

There are several areas in this country that are utterly neglected , for instance Public Health System , all I would say is that if you got to see what it's like here you'd be stunned of how lousy and neglected things work around here ... that's why I don't have faith in this country , there's a lot of corruption , narrowmindedness , double morals , disguised prudishness and hipocrisy ...

Anyway hopefully it doesn't take too long for legal same sex unions to happen in this country ... I live here and you may call me pessimistic but I'd rather say I'm realistic as I'm aware of the stark corrupted reality of this country
 
I was so glad that one small step had been made because it was a supreme court decision and might open the door legally to more. But perhaps this is not the case. :(
 
Well, it is more than a good start, really. These cases in Peru have been going on for some time.

There were a couple of States in the US, for one example, that decided to recognize same sex marriages performed in other countries, Canada, in particular, and by doing so, somewhat showed their populations that nothing bad came from it. Full on legalized in-house/State same sex marriages came shortly after.

As soon as they are able, same sex partners living in Peru who wish to be married should travel to any country where they can. After Peru has enough legally recognized same sex married couples living happily and peacefully in the country, they won't have much to argue or worry about when it comes to legalizing/issuing their own same sex marriage licenses.

It is and it was the message I took from the story. If they wouldn't allow the performance of same sex marriage in Peru, they would have to at least recognize unions outside their borders. And it is a start.

In some ways it isn't much different than the bumper rails that Biden Co. and Congress have tried to put in place before Obergefell is demolished by the Roberts Court. A requirement that all states must recognize a marriage even if it is not legal within that state.

I guess I am still a cock-eyed optimist (so to speak)
