Well I have heard news that the 80GB Zunes were out of stock because Microsoft didn't anticipate people wanted the 80GB more than the 8GB. And it was true because Circuit City or Best Buy didn't have any, but Target does. YAY!!!!! Thank God, cause I don't want the 80GB iPod classic, nor the 8GB Zune.

oh lord they are running out at those target stores.

i dont have the money at the moment. hopefully by wednesday i will. i pray they dont disapear before than, but that is wishful thinking.

How in bloody hell would someone need 1Tb of music??

Fuck' sake, how long could that play?

Time for a Fermi problem...

1Tb = approx. 200000 songs
average length = 3mins
3*200000 = 600000mins
10000hours
415days

At 70mph, one could drive for 700000 miles, or to the moon and back then back to the moon.

I think my math's right. It's kinda late here.

I guess on the upside after a while you've forgotten what you've listen to.

"Oh, I haven't heard this one in a while..."

It seems you can get an 80 GB drive for about $72, and a brand-new-in-box 30 GB Zune on ebay for $100 to $130.

So you can "roll your own" 80 GB Zune for about $200. 80 GB Zune 2s are going on ebay for as much as $500!

Save about $300, and get a spare 30 GB drive to boot!

I dont want the old Zunes. I want the brand new 80GB with the new touch wheel and glass screen and just the Zune experience persay.

Now up to 100 GB on the Zune hack. (Evidently, the Zune requires a 1.8 inch hard drive - not a standard notebook computer drive as I had assumed. Toshiba has just released a 100 GB version of their 1.8 inch drive, the largest available).

The appearance of the Toshiba drive suggests that MS may be planning to release a 100 GB Zune soon, but no official word yet.

^ I just did a Google search on "Target layaway", mike, and look at the fifth hit down!

sigh they ran out. so i bought the 30GB limited adition red.

meh

i find the zune a lot more pleasurable than the iPod of any type. It's more interesting to use, and the screen is big considering its a MP3 player. Plus, this thing feels solid, like a brick lol. The greatest part is I don't ever have to download iTunes.

Now you need to buy a Toshiba 100 GB hard drive and upgrade that mutha to the baddest music/video player on the planet!

Yeah, but doesn't it require Windows Media Player or something to transfer songs? I like the media players that just get identified as usb storage devices when you plug them into a usb port. Then you can drag and drop songs or videos to the player from any OS's file manager, and just play them! You can also use your portable media player to store and transfer your computer files or programs, I don't think the Zune can do that.

(I once knew a guy who installed Knoppix to his 1 GB Creative Muvo mp3 player. He had the entire distro on his Muvo, including OpenOffice, Firefox, lots of stuff he was working on, etc. The funny thing was, there was still plenty of room on the Muvo to put a bunch of songs. Despite the bootable knoppix installation, the Muvo still played all his music just fine! I would see him booting computers all the time from his mp3 player! He would just stick his mp3 player in a usb port and turn it on! He had all his work, all the apps he used, and all his music on his tiny little mp3 player. For some reason, that always struck me as hilarious!)

Congratulations. You'll love your new Zune.

You don't actually need windows media player cause it doesnt use it at all. Zune downloads it's own little media player like iTunes that identifies all of your music and syncs it for you if you want. All you have to do to add new stuff is make sure you put your new music in that folder that your other music is than sync. It also has the podcast, picture, and other things in the same place. It's a very nice program actually. I guess you could call it Microsofts iTunes.

and yes the Red one is a little gay seeing how it sorta looks pink, and it is a vibrant red to. but hey i am gay, and we like to stand out, even though i bought a carrying case for it, so you don't see the red anymore.

The Zune only works with Windows. If you use Mac or Linux, you're locked out.

that sucks. they might have fixed that with the second generation. dont know.
