I guess this thread is appropriate given all of the Texas business!

No one would dream of putting vinyl upholstery in a car or not having air conditioning.

My first truck didn't have air-conditioning. For THREE SUMMERS I had to go without air. Ugh, bad (and sweaty) memories. If I didn't know what hell was like before, I sure do now! Just traded that truck in a month ago. :D

it's part of the texas mystique
ding

although all the ones about how hot it gets?

those are true.

and every summer my left arm is the darkest part of my body because of the car window.

King of the Hill is set in Texas isn't it. Do you all love propane and propane accessories?

Come on guys. Texas is not as hot as Nevada, N.M., or Arizona.

i lived in north dallas thru the 80s and i remember one august it never got below 90 degrees in any 24 hour day for over a month, i couldn't go outside barefoot on the sidewalk at midnight.

Mostly this list is a good argument for why I'm not moving back.

In the past on JUB I have mentioned the summer I spent in 1984 in Houston. I thought that the lesson I learned that summer about heat + humidity was ultimate.

Then, I moved to Missouri in 1985. A couple of visits to St. Louis in August put the whole "Houston = heat + humidity" thing into perspective. In Missouri, in the riverbed areas, you can see the fog coming up off the ground.

Nevertheless, Texas has its own special kind of heat. And I think it's changed over the last 30 years. The desertified areas are moving east. That, and the highways have all clogged up.

They have hearts?

Yup, we keep them hidden under our Stetsons...

Weren't those supposed to be jokes? Most are pretty factual. Haha.

Although I've lived in Texas mostly all my life, the one thing I will never get used to is the weather. It never freakin stays consistant! Let's have it ice over in the morning, rain in the afternoon, then get like 90 degrees at 11pm!

I loves my state!

Get're done!

Sad thing is that it is SOOOOO true. You just have to prepare for all types of weather in a Texas day.

My country is 6 degrees away from the equator. I win.

^ No, actually from what I've heard about New Delhi (110 degrees and more in the summer, with cruel humidity), I think they win.

YKYFTW...you know where to get enchiladas, chicken-fried steak and BBQ to die for - and all three are served at the same place.

how is the humidity in your country?

it isnt that it is hot, it is that it is hot and humid. At least in Houston.

and the weather is so incredibly sporatic. what r-method said is true, it can change just like that in a day.

Warm and fairly humid summer temperatures throughout the year (approximately 30ºC/86ºF during the day and 23ºC/74ºF in the evening)

Fairly humid throughout the year trumps high humidity during summer?
