When you click on a thread titled "You know you're old when..."

When I turned 13, I thought it was going to be a huge deal because I was entering my teen years. When I turned 18, I thought it was going to be a huge deal because I was legally an adult. When I turned 20, I thought it was going to be a big deal because I was leaving my teens and becoming a 20-something. (and when I turned 19, that was awesome because I could legally drink. :))
but afterwards, I realized that turning those ages just wasn't as big of a deal as I thought. Now that I'm 30, I'm a bit indifferent to it.

Age is a number. Death can call at any age.

Growing older, grows experience. Experience grows us into wiser people, when we learn from experience.

When you watch a Presidential debate and shake your head saying "kids these days..."

Come to London on a Saturday night when many men straight and gay get so fucking drunk they shit their pants it!

. . . It's 9pm on a Saturday night and you want to go to bed . . . for sleep.

...when you read the obituaries every day to see who you know....

When you watch a Presidential debate and shake your head saying "kids these days..."

Or when you just say "kids these days..." in general :)

Although I'm seeing people my age saying things like "Oh, today's kids have so much more than we had!" or "Oh, kids these days are stupid and out of control!"
Well, when my generation were kids, the older generation said the exact same thing. In our bedrooms we had TVs and Nintendos and big stereos, and sometimes computers, it was the norm for a lot of kids/teenagers in the '90s.
My cousin was even telling his son this last year on Christmas, "Oh you guys get so much more than I did when I was a kid!"... um, no they didn't, you got showered with gifts too. I was there! :)
And as I recall, kids and teenagers were always painted as being wild and out of control, and the kids who grew up in the '70s and '80s were "always perfect little angels, with no exceptions whatsoever."
Actually, I don't know about anyone else's experiences, but teenagers today don't seem to be as wild as Generation X was when they were teens. There are issues today, but every generation has its quirks.

You know you are old when the only hit songs you recognize are the covers, and even then you prefer the original version.

(Unless, of course, you've always been wild about older pop music from before you were born...)

^ All of the above.

I had to explain to the "kids" at work what is the tribble on my computer.

You know you're old.........

When Father Time calls you Dad. Or worse, Grandpa!

I went to the gym this morning and had my body fat read. The personal trainer - young enough to be my granddaughter - had me hold this device this size of a keyboard and after a few seconds it gave the result, 33.3%. I remarked "thirty-three and a third, just like an LP". She very sincerely replied "what's that?".
Fortunately her supervisor (young enough to be my son) was right there and gave her a mini-course in 45s and LPs and music pre-CD.
Major generational differences here.
