Hey, I got chastised big time a while back about supermarket self checkouts and why we don't get a discount for using them. I meant no harm but sure touched a lot of nerves

Thanks for resurrecting this thread,Brian.Going through it brings up a lot of memories,the overwhelming percentage of them very good ones.

It's always good to be posting with you and Dynk....glad now you're back in civilian life here at JUB you're having the time to catch up with old friends.So many thigs have changed on Jub and I suppose with time and success it's inevitable.But it's always a wonderful sight to see banter between some of those people who really helped turn you on to this community,make it feel as comfortable as a second home.

I work at a supermarket and for all the times the self checkouts don't work,and most of the express registers are closed to encourage the use of self checkouts that too often don't work.....I would have fully concurred with you on the discount thingie for using them!

I like them...they're fun and I really don't care about a discount. Even the attendant tells me the PLUs so I don't have to look them up

There only fun when they're working....they conk out a good average of once a week around here.Someone got the bright idea of putting a new system on somewhat older technology and as to be expected....sometimes things aren't always compatible.

I like the self checkout counters too, but I always seem to get the prompt, "please wait for a casher," and then there's never one available, or they want to check my age for some bottle of wine purchase! I'm forty for crying out loud, just count the gray hairs on the top of my head ...... LOL

A discount would always be nice though, IMHO!

RK,you're serious?I know now for some cockamamie reason they card everryone getting cigarettes at customer service,regardless of age.Your supermarket is giving you grief over your age for liquor purchases,too?That sucks!

My beef is when the computer prompts you to pu the item in the bag,and you've already done so right after you scanned it.Have to wait for the checkout attendant cashier to override that fancy talking machine!At least let me get a hot sexy male voice coming out of the computer checkout to make it worth my while!


I'd love to give RK and Brian a special ex-mod discount,ten percent on purchases!
