You see a penny on the floor

No I would not pick it up as I certainly don't need it financially; but unknowingly the person behind who may discover it whilst walking in my steps may well retrieve it with joy knowing that now he has the amount necessary for a Mcdo, or a bottle of booze, whatever.

What right have I who is not in need to deprive those who are of finding a penny in the street. ;)

Yesterday I saw a penny on the concrete as I crossed the street. I refrained from picking it up not for fear of being run over, but because there were people nearby and I didn't want to be the object of ridicule. I never use them anyways.
