The Canon is nice, and Vivaldi is quite enjoyable, but I would have to go with Bach - in particular, his Brandenburg Concertos (with Number 3 being my absolute favourite).

Boy, this is a tough one. How about my favorite list of Baroque pieces instead? Any oratorio or opera by Handel. The Coronation Anthems.

Vivaldi: "Four Seasons"

Handel: Water Music, Music for the Royal Fireworks

Bach's: Brandenburg Concertos

Pachelbel's for Chamber Ensemble - Six Suites for Two Violins and Continuo, Canon

There is also an assortment of Baroque Music for Guitars by various composers

Depends on my Mood!!

Oh I couldn't name just one - the Baroque is my favorite era of music, and I listen to a lot of it. However, having said that, Bach's Goldberg Variations would come pretty high on any list of mine.

I don't have any baroque music. I fixed all my music. #-o (Sorry, just can't resist a pun :rotflmao:)

Bach's Cello Suite No. 1 in G major, BWV 1007: Prelude*
my absolute favorite piece. makes me want to learn to play the cello.

Speaking of Baroque music, have any of you seen the DVD of Vivaldi's opera Ercole su'l Termodonte with Alan Curtis? It's a great DVD, especially since Curtis is flashing his ample rack through most of the opera.

As I've posted in another thread, I like Vivaldi and Bach the most. When it comes to Bach, my favourites are brandenburg concertos (third I think) and mass h-moll.
My favourite Vivaldi piece is a certain trumpet concerto.

Cannon in D Major:

Sorta like which child you love the best...

Today it's Pachelbel's Canon or Canon in D major.

My parents played that at their wedding....then again who doesn't. My favorite are the brandenburg concertos

I, too, would be hard-pressed to choose just one piece.

However, my favourites are Scarlatti, Bach, Biber, Schueltz, Vivaldi.

Bach, Bach, Bach, Bach, Bach.....

But altogether Gesualdo, Lully, Corelli, Couperin, Froberger, Vivaldi, Purcell, Gluck, and Bach altogether for a larger compilation.

Specifically, Bach cello suites and his cantatas...and his organ pieces...and most definitely the passions...

I actually took a music appreciation course at my school (got credit for it also). Unfortunately we did not listen to any baroque music (in concert) :(.There was a strong 20th century theme.

I love Vivaldi and the Four Seasons of course. I can deal with Bach in small doses. Although the cello concerto's by bach are quite lovely.

J.S. Bach's Chaconne from the Partita in D minor (BWV 1004). It's the most emotionally devastating piece I know. It gets me every time.
