Gerhard Richter most likely. I just hate how he uses a projector to paint photographs.

OMG GM!
You took my artist! we are just gonna have to share, k?
That painting of his daughter at the top is in St Louis across from one of his gigantic green abstracts and I dearly love the dichotomy, it's like two separate worlds colliding. I have two sides battling within me as well when I paint, one part of me wants to be delicate and masterful in my technique and another side of me wants to explode the paint into something never seen before.

So that's why Gerhard Richter is my selection for GREATEST THING IN THE WORLD TODAY! ... Rachel Maddow does that every night hehehe a greatest thing in the world segment...

By the way GhostMost, you have wonderful taste...hugzU(*8*)and don't worry about the projector thingy, Di Vinci would have used one too if someone had invented it back then. It's the message in the end that matters.
Art is an experience, not an object. Robert Motherwell said that. You know I'm glad we had this little moment, and please, come see my work sometime...

"There is no such thing as cheating in art. I use any and every thing I can to bring an idea into this world. There is no cheating, that's absurd."
~ Salvador Dali

I always liked his overpainted photos. I don't know most of my friends who are amazing artists don't use projectors, I haven't when I draw things and they still look good. I'm sure there are other people I like more but I don't really look up artists anymore.

I wanna see some of your stuff GM....
I have hundreds of favorite artists that do different things...

Warhol is my master, and by that I mean he capitulated what art means to society in general better than anyone else in late mid century America (an now the world/ironically). Think about his prediction "In the future everyone will be famous for 15 minutes."
That's eerie how it seems to be coming true already.
So today's greatest thing in the world is Andy Warhol
